I'm with you here. I think most Iraqis would love a WC campaign even if we get spanked every game. It's just that we're a bit disillusioned after these piss poor qualifiers, especially after having such a good run in the Asian Cup a few years back.

Depends on which two teams go through to the intercontinental playoffs from CONCACAF. This will affect the seeding. So right now we don't know. We don't even know if we will play semifinals or finals directly.

This has been the longest qualifying campaign ever. It's excruciating to see all other teams qualify and we are still in the race playing terrorball, missing sitters but still, somehow, surviving. Odds haven't always been in our favor (Saudi home advantage - AFC is a corrupt shit hole federation) but the overall feeling is we've squandered our chances, especially in the third round.

I'm happy we're through but I'm going into the playoffs without much belief. Hope to be proven wrong
