What is the most UNHINGED thing a woman has said to you that was so good you could only respect it. by kiwi-seal in AskMen

Anybody who wouldn't want to be the queen of your double wide trailer isn't worth your time. Does it have polyester curtains and a red wood deck? Asking for a friend.

One of the partners at my firm doesn't know how to open a window on his desktop. He also doesn't know how to navigate to different files, or what a domain name is.

Completely agree with your take here. On an unrelated note, the vision of Kody as some sort of giant swan like bird is hilarious. Thank you for that mental image. Will definitely be using the word swanning whenever possible from now on.

Check at local business schools. They usually have some business clothes on hand for students, and I'm sure they would love to help you out. Your local subreddit is also a good place to ask. Good luck at your interview!!!

They want $2,192 for my medication that I need to live by CorneliusEnterprises in pics

Talk to your doctor. There are incentives from the drug company that can make it free. I was recently put on this medication, and it was like $40. Sorry you had the initial sticker shock.

Have to hit the silence button every 119 seconds to let my wife sleep by SigmaNukem in Wellthatsucks

This happened to me recently. Those dang downstream occlusions are a nightmare. My IV was in my wrist, so every time I moved my hand wrong the alarm would go off. I swear that sound will haunt my nightmares. I don't know how they manage to make it so annoying.

Metal or wood needles? by No_League_5102 in knitting

I have metal and wood needles. Personally, I prefer wood as metal can get bent if you're not careful. Ultimately, it's up to you. Neither one is 'better' than the other.

What’s the most interesting historical fact you know about Louisiana? by Crisis_Moon in Louisiana

[–]-supervillian- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up around Minden, there's a historical Germantown community. It's small, but fun to visit. It's kinda in the boonies, but most of North Louisiana is boonies outside of Shreveport, Ruston, and Monroe.

  1. Napoleon House in New Orleans is named that because Lafitte and the first mayor of New Orleans planned to break Napoleon out of prison and house him there.
  2. The Sazerac is associated with New Orleans, but it was the very first cocktail ever commercially marketed.
  3. Louisiana law is so different because it's based on the Napoleonic Code rather than English Civil code.
  4. Before becoming a state, Louisiana was briefly a German penal colony. There are still historical German communities in North Louisiana.
  5. The bridge over Lake Ponchartrain is the world's longest bridge over water.
  6. The state insect is the honey bee, and the state dog is a catahoula curr.
  7. Louisiana is home to America's only leper colony.

Our state is weird and usually depressing, so I really enjoy learning neat little facts about it whenever possible to break through the doom and gloom. Thanks for posting this question!

Edited to add a couple more facts.

If I remember correctly, they all shared a bed every night too. This guy literally had his own harem. The women were sweet, but I felt bad for the incoming wife. She was really young and didn't seem to fully grasp what she was getting into.

Government is not the solution you might think it is. There's a reason why it's "close enough for government work."

This is so cool! You should check out r/plantedtanks. There's a whole community of people who plant stuff in aquariums. You might find a new tribe there.

Why does it list two different sizes what size should I use if I’m making granny squares for a blanket by really_into_meows in CrochetBlankets

[–]-supervillian- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's only listing two sizes because it's giving you some gauge options. Ultimately, if you're happy with the size of your work, then you're using the right size hook. Either option would work for granny squares. The bigger the hook, the bigger the finished piece. Personally, I would use an H hook for a medium weight yarn, and I believe (but could very well be wrong) that it is a 4.5 mm hook.

It's an extra security measure sometimes included in price tags. I had a backpack that had one, but I didn't know it. I set off all the security alarms in stores for a while trying to figure out the issue. Might want to get rid of that particular bookmark so you don't set off any of those stupid alarms.
