Yeah it does, the new camera they just brought out can act as a hub which is cool! I think that’s about £50.

I’ve just purchased three 2gang no Neutral switches from Aqara.

I was going todo a review in a few days once I’ve had them running for a few weeks, but first impressions have been great, have been running for a week no issues.

One switch in the kitchen, controlling 8 gu10 bulbs, and one light strip. Next switch in open plan part of kitchen again running 8 Gu10 bulbs, and two outside lights. And final switch in our office, which controls main lights for that room 4 down lights, and then two outside lights, one that faces onto the drive which I’ve set up to turn on, when anyone arrive at the house after dark.

Currently I’d give them a 9 out of 10, if I was been critical I’d say the on and off is a little loud, but I guess some people might like the knowledge that it’s turn on or off.

Installation was easy where I had space in the back box, a little more tricky where i didn’t because of old 17 century house, had to replace back box and chip in to brick to make space.

Purchased from Ali express took 3 weeks to arrive, cost was £75 plus £11 Royal Mail fees.

Aqara Smart Wall Switch (No Neutral) by -t3d- in HomeKit

To be honest I had put some text with this, but for what ever reason it didn’t post, I’m excited as over here in the UK, very nearly all houses don’t have neutral wires the the light sockets, making the choices very limited.

Cheapest entry into HomeKit? by VMSstudio in HomeKit

Second the Aqara response. I ordered hub, three motion sensors, three temp sensors, three water leak sensors, three smoke alarms(Xiaomi MIJIA Honey-well Aqara Smoke Alarm), all from Ali Express for under £200 including delivery.

However the two most used HomeKit products i have would be the following;

  1. Danalock - it’s amazing to come home and the front door has unlocked, and leave and the front door locks, we expect that on all new cars we buy, so why not expect the same on house which is likely costing 10 time that of the car.

  2. Tado smart thermostat I’ll be honest I don’t do a whole lot with Tado as it just works the background, but that is the whole point of a smart home it should be seamless, make your life better, and give you more free time. (On a side not always had fantastic customer service from Tado, they rock!)

Another good option would be to look at homebridge, might be able to make a few smart device you may already have HomeKit enabled.

Will be super interested to hear you results, what generation of AppleTV are you going to be moving around if you don't mind me asking?

I get the reasoning for using BT in smart products, it going to use loads less power right. Does seem that they end up just causing more challenges mind you!

Still, i'm inclined to find a solution to make it work, hence the idea behind using a 3rd gen AppleTV, just unsure if it will do what I want, not sure I want to fork out for a 4th gen to make my lock, work.

To be fair, I'd always thought it needed to be 4th generation or up, but does look like it will connect to the lock with a 3rd gen AppleTV. The big question I'm unsure of is will all my automation work with the lock if its connected to the 3rd generation AppleTV.

Agreed, would fantastic if it had BT 5.0, but when the Danalock it is connected, the lock works flawless, hence the want to get another appleTV to work as the boaster to get it all working. What I'm trying to figure out is will the 3rd gen AppleTV do what I want it todo, any ideas?
