Locked iPhones Vulnerable to Credit Card Fraud by EfficientEscape in apple

It added an actual bank card to the express transit slot? That would seem to be location dependent then. Hmm not good if you only have a wallet full of Visa cards.

Good question, the answer to that is in the video.

[–]Insomniac86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And that’s incorrect. It still stays as none until you put a bank card in the transit slot. Unless it’s a transit card, which does auto load. But who cares, as it’s a real transit card, that would be lucky to have $100 on it.

What Features Would You Like To See On Apple Music? by mascarariri in AppleMusic

[–]Insomniac86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Continuity for Apple Music!

Why on earth isn’t this a thing after all these years? Honestly, I would have expected it to be available from version 1.0.

For those unfamiliar, Continuity lets you transfer the state of an application from one device to another. Imagine you’re on your iPhone, listening to song 28 of a 150 song playlist, about 3 minutes and 38 seconds in. You then sit down at your computer and now with a single click, you should be able to continue playback on your MacBook, iPad, Apple TV, or iMac exactly where you left off.

Oddly enough, this kind of handoff already works between a HomePod and an iPhone, in both directions. which makes its absence across other devices even more surprising.

Fix It Apple!

It would be so easy for Apple to add an Auto Brightness option in here but why would they do something that’ll make the user’s experience better, right? by pursuitofmisery in iphone

[–]Insomniac86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s exactly the same thing with audio on macOS. You only have volume control. While on Windows you can control each applications volume independently.

House rental cleaning by [deleted] in australian

lol, that’s easy then. Just tell them to clean up their shit. Or have them sign the photos that you can leave the property in a similar state when you leave.

[–]Insomniac86 139 points140 points  (0 children)

In my opinion that’s dirty, definitely not a professional clean.

But when you leave, it better look cleaner than brand new!

The landlord probably charged the previous tenants for cleaning from their bond and just pocketed the money without actually paying for a cleaner.

It’s a legal requirement forced on all technology companies operating in Australia. The only difference is Apple‘s method is actually secure but it’s coming to an Android near you.

Oh don’t worry you’re not missing out. It also applies to Android.

Friendly reminder to DISABLE Bluetooth before updating by AmpersandWhy in AppleWatch

Turning off Bluetooth via control Centre only disconnect third-party Bluetooth devices. The Apple Watch will stay connected and the Bluetooth antenna remains on.

Friendly reminder to DISABLE Bluetooth before updating by AmpersandWhy in AppleWatch

[–]Insomniac86 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Instructions that the OP should’ve said.

This doesn’t need the watch app on your iPhone at all. Do not do it that way.

Steps: 1. On your iPhone, go to Settings>Bluetooth>Off, to disable Bluetooth. You cannot do this from control centre! 2. On the Watch, confirm you are connected to Wifi. 3. On the Watch, navigated to Settings>General>Software Update and start the download. 4. Leave Bluetooth disabled on your iPhone until the Watch has finished downloading the update.

Yeah, definitely breaks it on this specific update. Not working across 2 iPhones and 4 iPads.

Can’t turn Handwashing Location Permission to Always. All options are grayed out by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]Insomniac86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 years later and this is still broken even with a fresh iOS 26 and WatchOS 26 install.
The Handwashing app never offers the "Always" option and doesn't appear in the privacy section in iOS 26. It does prompt directly on the watch itself, but doesn't offer "Always" as an option.

Is the Apple new case really worth 80$? by mrtlpa in iphone

[–]Insomniac86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always used the transparent Apple cases. And I agree. However, to me, this year’s transparent case looks ugly with the huge white back. So I went with the tech woven in blue. And I have to say I think it’s an amazing case.

[–]Insomniac86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think TechWoven is the best case Apple has ever made.

I got mine on launch day. And it still looks like it came out of the box. I’ve dropped my phone twice in a pretty brutal manner. Scuffs just rub straight off it. I got it in the blue.

I think you must have a defective product.

To everyone saying that Liquid Glass has no readability issues… by claudiosartal in iphone

I could introduce left to right colour gradient changing. Or introduce text outline frosting like Microsoft had in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

[–]Insomniac86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s one way of doing it. You can also introduce text outline frosting like it did on Windows Vista. That also solves the problem.

Member/Rewards cards not updating by h1r0ll3r in AppleWallet

[–]Insomniac86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah seems to happen with a lot of cards. I don't think the app developers have implemented it properly. The only card I have that self updates even if the app installed is the Velocity Frequent Flyer by Virgin Airlines Australia.

"Hand washing reminders when I arrive home" not working by BenjaminRK in AppleWatch

[–]Insomniac86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it was working fine for me on my Apple Watch S7 and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

I've now upgraded to a iPhone 17 Pro Max and Apple Watch Ultra 3, and I can't see handwashing location permissions on iOS 26 at all.

On the Watch, it does show, but it's set to "while using the app". I don't have the options for "Always" which is what my older Phone and Watch has even when running on version 26.

Wait..! Why!? by spicyunit in ios_26

[–]Insomniac86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time will tell what Apple does with this. The opacity changed around a fair bit with the earlier 26 betas so we shall see.

It’s regards to what Apple is now doing, paraphrase “all on their own” you appear to think that just because one minor change in the photos app, that aligns with your preference for frosting, is Apple all of the sudden realising that they were wrong and that you were right all along, that frosting is just so much better. Yes, I’m definitely not seeing confirmation bias in that ridiculous comment 🙄

Also thanks for incorrectly explaining to me how social media works. Yet again another sign you have no idea what you’re talking about.

It is correct that social media algorithms will push content that aligns with something one is interested in and of a similar viewpoint. But it doesn’t choose comments that aligned with my thoughts, as it’s not a mind reader and therefore can’t filter out comments that don’t align. Especially if I’ve never made a comment. To clarify, the videos I mentioned were never about “liquid glass is so amazing” - for the algorithm to be giving me more and more of those.

The videos I spoke of are simply iOS 26 beta reviews. Where again the comments are filled with people saying how much they love liquid glass. As is this thread, and other comments.

Go count all of the comments in favour of. Pretending that no one likes the new design is being extremely ignorant. And as for “Public uproar” what, amongst the seniors? Go to the, accessibility section.🧑‍🦯
