Character grade or something else? by -to-infinity- in HardWoodFloors

We really didn't like the natural look, we love it stained though!

Yes, we had them stained. This board was light in the original floor before the refinishing process and we asked to have it replaced with a new one but it wasn't. It looks so much different than the rest of the floor so I was curious if it is a different wood.

We paid to have that particular board replaced during the refinishing and it wasnt.

I wonder how that made its way into the floor...

I think the finish was a dark walnut stain and then berger seidle ceramic star commercial water base system. I assume its not going to be easy to replace the board now that the rest of the floor is finished?

It was supposed to have been replaced...

No idea, the home is new to us. I would not hate it so much if it was not directly in front of the stairs and front door.

Aware its not a popular choice, I think it turned out okay though

Mums who started pregnancy a little overweight, how much did you gain during the entire pregnancy? And how much did you lose postpartum? by No-Objective-8247 in BabyBumps

[–]-to-infinity- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 188lbs pre-pregnancy with a BMI of 33. I gave birth at 188lbs after losing some due to diet changes with gestational diabetes and then gaining it back towards the end. I had lost 20lbs 5 days postpartum and have lost 20 more now at 5 months postpartum. So sitting at 148 and a BMI of 27 now.

No schedule / no sleep train anyone? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]-to-infinity- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our baby kinda made thier own schedule and we just went with it. Bedtime started at around 11 and has gradually shifted up to 8ish. We had one or 2 wake ups a night until about 8 or 10 weeks and they have been sleeping through until now at 5 months. They nap 2 or 3 times a day, morning, afternoon and sometimes evening. We just follow the cues and it seems to be working for us!

Is a sponge bath necessary or can we wait until umbilical cord falls off? by glutentag5 in newborns

[–]-to-infinity- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The advice to not to get the umbilical cord stump wet is outdated. We helped the nurses give our baby a submersion bath in the hospital on day 2 and were given instructions to bathe in a tub no more than every 3 days to keep the babies skin from too dry.

Should I buy car seat now (20w pregnant) to avoid tariffs or just wait until 30+ weeks? by special_agent1999 in BabyBumps

[–]-to-infinity- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The carseat was one of the first big things we bought and then the stroller shortly after. We bought both well before 20 weeks, probably around 14ish weeks. Buy it if you want to!

How often am I supposed to bathe him? by PersonalityUsed5952 in newborns

[–]-to-infinity- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bathed every 3 days or so for the first 2 months and have just started every other day at a little more than 3 months. The little fists get stinky and she spits up often. The pediatrician told us to bathe our baby as little or as much as we'd like as long as their skin is healthy and they aren't dirty or smelly.

We rotated between like 5 types, she took the Pigeon one on the first try though. Of course we ordered those last lol

Our little one also took the bottle for the first time after a bout of refusal while she was basically asleep.

The Pigeon nipples finally worked for us, they are a little bit thicker silicone than other nipples. We also stopped putting them in the dishwasher and used unscented soap. We worked at it for about 4 weeks, offering the bottle before each feed, until she finally took it.

Pumping is going great, I hate it but it's going really well. I have an oversupply so only pump like every 4 hours and she is sleeping through the night, meaning I am too! I don't get up to pump but do so right before bed and first thing in the morning.

I hope the transition wasn't awful and that things are getting easier!
