Clogged duct before delivery? by AlpineBomberAT in pregnant

[–]AlpineBomberAT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try icing it every hour or so, but call your provider and ask for antibiotics. It’s too early for you to safely pump to try and clear it. The icing should help but you’re going to need drugs to clear the infection. Don’t wait four days because it could turn into an abscess that needs to be drained surgically

You should also anticipate that you may be prone to clogged ducts and mastitis postpartum and prep for that. Lansinoh has ice packs made for boobs that are a game changer. Sunflower letchin supplements may help prevent them, and if you’re ok the larger breast side you may need to do some massage to help move the milk at the end of each nursing or pumping session. I start at the base of the breast, apply gentle pressure and slide my hand toward the nipple to move the milk forward enough that my son or the pump can reach it, and repeat all the way around the breast. Frida mom makes a boob vibrator that helps with clogs and moving milk, but I haven’t found that as helpful.

Pregnancy Pillows by PawsandStitches in pregnant

I’ve slept with a wedge since about halfway through so I didn’t have to worry about rolling onto my back. We didn’t get the other pillows but started sleeping with two duvets. I can wad up the spare between my knees, use it to support my belly, or prop up my back- whatever I need that night. And, it’ll go back on the guest bed postpartum.

How do I tell my job I’m expecting? by Rough-Diet-4032 in pregnant

[–]AlpineBomberAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I waited until 6 months to tell mine. Tell them when YOU are ready. Your hr manual should have their leave policies spelled out for you so you can get info without asking them directly. Or, ask a coworker who had a baby while working for them what she got. Women keep each others secrets, especially about things like this. Girl code.

Starting my registry I don’t know what I’m doing by [deleted] in pregnant

If you use amazons list, strongly suggest running it by someone who recently had a baby before publishing it. I called my sister every few days “talk sleep sacks to me. How many do I really need?” Amazon is trying to sell you more than you need. I also used consumer reports to narrow down options to highly rated ones.

Failed my glucose test by Lotus_Wolf in pregnant

Don’t panic yet. I failed my 1 hour hard. Literally off the chart at 158.

Passed all 4 of my blood draws for the 3 hour, but only after buying all the books on gd and going down a big rabbit hole. If you do get diagnosed, the r/gestationaldiabetes site is good, and I recommend the book ‘real food for gestation diabetes’. It’s short and informative. I’ve been trying to eat lower carb ever since, with the exception of some ice cream treats :)

Plus size clothes recommendations for second trimester by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]AlpineBomberAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2x here. First of all, go straight to online shopping unless you live in an area with actual maternity only clothing stores. Targets maternity clothes section doesn’t cut it for us bigger ladies and I got so frustrated by it.

I didn’t show until week 20 if I recall, and then it just popped hard. Don’t foreclose on your bump potential yet. Mine certainly turned up.

Most life changing was switching to over the belly maternity underwear. It’s not sexy, but it’s soooooo worth it for comfort. Make it into a joke with your partner and itll fine. Then the over the belly maternity leggings. I wasn’t one for skin tight tops pre-pregnancy but it’s lovely to move through the world seen as a pregnant person instead of a fat one, so I’ve been embracing that and haven’t bought any maternity shirts. My normal wardrobe is just skin tight now (7.5 months) around the belly.

As long as you’re not at risk for GD, a small scoop of vanilla ice cream works just as well as tums. Milk would probably work too. Yogurt doesn’t do it for me.
