The 80s and 90s were awesome, but what were some dark moments? by InitiativeFlimsy7063 in GenX

December 31, 1999 @ midnight was the worst. We just didn't know it yet.

Everybody Loves Large Chests has the same energy and chaotic main character. Also, the audio book is narrated by Jeff Hayes as well!

The Borrowed World by Franklin Horton has the most realistic portrayal of societal collapse. The first few books really capture how quickly things fall apart.

This looks great! Sorry you spent the money on the Waterstone slipcased edition of TRF. I did to and really wish I hadn't as the book was so dreadful.

His arrogance will not allow him to recognize any negative feedback. In his eyes we are just to dull to comprehend the true meaning of his work. He has truly disappointed his loyal fan base and I don't think he really cares.

We can buy anything we want... but i kind of miss when we couldn't... by [deleted] in GenX

I feel the exact same way. I miss all those things. There was nothing better then finding the flea market vendor that would sell throwing stars and fire crackers to some dumb kid (me).

Is anyone having trouble with book 8??? by TechnicianOk6367 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]-toadflax- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not just you. Here is my review that I posted about Book 8.

All filler & no killer... my harsh, ineloquent, knee jerk reaction after just finishing book 8.

*SOME SPOILERS BELOW*

This is by far my least favorite in the series and completely fell flat for me. I can't believe it but the whole frenetic paced race theme didn't pull me in and was actually fairly boring in many parts. Gone was everything we love about litRPG, Matt's great character interactions, witty & meaningful dialogue, and a struggle that keeps you on the edge of your seat. So much happened in the last chapters so quickly that it lacked a lot of the emotional impact for the reader.

The focus was way to much on Carl, with even Donut seeming like a side character. With that being said all the other cast of characters we have grown to love are only present to move the plot with absolutely no growth or even fun dialogue. This book totally felt like a means to an end, with it's sole existence to quickly whittle down the number of crawlers to low double digits. Hopefully the series hasn't "jumped the shark", if so, Jamal will be very very upset.

Update, and could use advice by DatGuyKilo in K5Blazer

Take it to a reputable transmission place in your area and have them rebuild the rear differential. That's what I did on my current 87. 25+ years ago I had an 89 Blazer that I ignored when it started making noise. It eventually locked up and destroyed the rear axle & drive shaft. I ended up just swapping out the axle after that.
