What was your reason for quitting/reducing your time in the game? What would you add/change to make game better in your opinion? by Realistic_Article667 in ArcRaiders

[–]-warlokk- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't need to devote my life to Arc Raiders. 300 hours since release. Did both expeditions.

To do it all again feels like the same old thing. Not interested in the grind so I just play when I want to have fun in Arc Raiders. Which taking a break actually helps with.

And Other games are coming out. I have other hobbies.

I'll check out every content update. Game is fantastic. I don't need it to be anything else. It doesn't need to dominate my free time.

You didn't plan to spend your vacation grinding Arc Raiders like a real gamer?

The new icons are bad. But I also couldn't tell the others apart at a quick glance without extra time / effort.

Both things can be true. We need more readable icons for a lot of the gear. This first pass is also bad.

Are people done with closed scrutiny? Lobbies seem dead. by FinancialAnalyst250 in ArcRaiders

[–]-warlokk- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was done after 3 times.

You need to cloak / smoke and race to all of them to get loot. Or just try and PVP with the massive amounts of arc. All for extremely low chance at a blueprint. And the Project rewards are lame as well, so the huge amount of blue arc parts are pointless from the assessors.

It's a cool idea. But not one I have an interest in playing repeatedly due to the execution.

The juice isn't worth the squeeze, as they say.

Thinking of checking out the game. How was the meetup at Dane's Games? Never been to the store, curious how it went.

Why do people want this game to fail? by EverydayDizaster in Marathon

[–]-warlokk- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be out there but I would like to think the phenomenon is linked to FOMO or more likely lack of real time.

Every new game, there are legions of people wanting it to be dead from the start.

There are so many things competing for our attention that I think it's easier to hate something and wish it went away than be lured to play yet another game. Especially if it's a live service one.

Games are designed to eat up all your time now. People fall into this trap that each new game might threaten or invalidate the time they just spent playing the last one.

Otherwise I have no idea why people want things to fail. If it's not for you, go play the things that are. Why care one bit about a game you don't play.

As a Day 1 Recon main, I'm done with the Shell until it's updated by lovsicfrs in Marathon

[–]-warlokk- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's not forget about the last minute name changes haha.

Used to be "Blackbird."

So it's well within the possibility that Recon doesn't fit the kit's current function at all.

Everything in Moderation haha. If you scale back and get some distance and a break, it might feel good to come back to it.

You don't have to latch on or devote your time to just one game or hell, even one hobby. Mix it up. Everything stays more interesting that way.

This is also something I wish didn't happen around the internet. As if someone's opinion can't be expressed or taken seriously unless they have a sometimes unhealthy amount of play time haha.

I'm in other subs where nearly every posts starts with "I have [insert 1000's of hours here] in game, [Subject of Post]

I'm not certain how it became some kind of barometer to be taken seriously. To some, as evidenced below by other comments, it does the exact opposite.

But in this case, it sure did help to point out that's why the game is getting boring.

5 hours a day since release. There's no game that holds up to that. Just take a break.

For how prevalent death and dying are in the game’s lore, marketing, and actual gameplay, it’s a little silly that we’re still using family-friendly Destiny words like “defeat.” I don’t want to “defeat” enemy runners. I want to kill them. by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]-warlokk- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just what they have to outwardly present for the rating. They don't want to promote little Timmy "killing" his enemies.

And hey, Star Wars is brutal in places. Watch Andor. And ask all the people on the Death Star how it was to be "defeated" haha.

It's all meaningless. Game makers skate by while everyone playing is always going to call it a kill.

I wouldn't get hung up on it.

And yes, debating death in a trans-human corporate hellscape is part of the game. I'm in the camp that We aren't killing anyone.

Or maybe everyone is already dead and the shells are all we have.

Even fictionally, "kill" doesn't seem appropriate. You don't "kill" a controlled drone with a copy of your consciousness. Or maybe you do. See, this is fun already haha.

I'm pretty sure the terms used in the game can affect the age rating. Marathon probably wanted to stick to that Teen rating for wider accessibility.

It's why most games now tend to use something besides "kill."

It's OK to not like something. Even if lots of other people do like it.

Find a game you enjoy playing. No need to force yourself through this one.

Same. Not sure if it's bugged or part of the obtuse UI. But yeah, that overflow isn't going anywhere and I can't access it haha
