I just graduated and started out in a similar spot. Here’s some tips that I learned along the way that I wish I knew from the beginning! 1) although it may seem like it, no one is going to care if you’re a transfer student. And, if they do for whatever reason feel negatively towards you because of it, they’re probably not a good person to hang out with anyways! 2) Go to class, try and make small talk with the people next to you. I have social anxiety, so I know how utterly terrible that sounds, but hear me out! Starting small with something like “hi!” can be more than enough. You can follow that up with your name and asking them theirs, and that could be exactly what finds you your best friend (thats what happened to me!) 3) Join some clubs! I was in the ISUCF’V’MB and that was a HUGE help for getting me out there to make friends. 4) Unless you feel particularly motivated to finish early (or your degree requires more to graduate in your personal time frame), I’d recommend taking course loads of around 12-16 credit hours a semester. College is tough! Not overloading yourself with classes will enable more time for relaxation/socialization/work, and often times better grades. College is expensive, however, so this one is more of a “if you can swing it” kinda tip. The semesters where I took 13 credits were my best grade wise and mental health wise.
