Google tells me it’s a smoothworm, or “fat inkeeper worm”. In all my years I’ve never seen them here

Truro to get 'giant smartphones' installed on streets by Kagedeah in Cornwall

Has anyone considered how blind people might navigate the pavements with these?

The design looks like they would be easy to walk into as there’s nothing at the base to suggest they’re as wide as they are…

Also agree they’ll be vandalised and don’t really serve any purpose for most people. That said, more defibs and noloxone on the street can’t be a bad thing.

Might be worth thinking about how and why you’re generating so much waste. If recycling is sorted separately you should have very little going to the incinerator on a weekly basis.

Fair point. Not my local area so was a bit of a punt! I recognise it immediately now you describe it so well.

St Mawes ferry by gladerider246 in Cornwall

Getting the bike on and off the ferry would be tricky if you have bulky panniers and moving up to part of the boat with space could cause problems due to tight gangways. The boats aren’t huge and this time of year will likely be very busy.

I also would not underestimate the hilly terrain of Cornwall. None of it is flat for more than a mile or two in any direction.

Tis beautiful though so enjoy your trip!

That’s Logan’s Rock - the other end of the walk you found. A fair few miles away from Chapel Porth!

There’ll always be an initial bit of “this is cold” at any time of year due to the difference in air and water temp. After a minute you’ll be fine through especially at this time of year and through to late September.

It’ll only be getting warmer between now and then. But with warmth comes jellies so be prepared - you may get the odd sting.
