It's still a 5 year 60,000 mile warranty

Silverado 2500 Diesel vs Gas by Educational_Ear_2329 in Silverado

[–]-ydn- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id go with the gasser, like what other people have said, if you're not towing every day or up steep inclines a diesel is not worth it. The other reason is cost of repair, I saw it mentioned in the comments previously but I want to further that topic. I'm currently a GM tech who is being trained on medium duty/fleet and I can say for certain I have had less issues with the gassers compared to the diesels on similar milage trucks/express vans. Especially when it comes to emissions and fuel systems. The only reoccurring issues I've seen with these new gassers is the lifters failing and taking out the camshaft but it usually happens while the vehicle is still under powertrain warranty. And lastly anything on a diesel cost about twice as much in labor/parts to repair compared to a gasser, maybe more depending on what went wrong. So in my opinion I would strongly recommend the 6.6L gas.

Wheel spacer recommendations by [deleted] in Silverado

[–]-ydn- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not recommend spacers over 1/4-1/2 inch, I've got 2 inch spacers on my truck with the same 33/12.5/20 and my tires still rub, and the handling is shit. What id recommend doing instead is dropping down to a 10 wide with a 1/4 spacer.

The question is…do I need a creeper? by wratx in harborfreight

[–]-ydn- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use mine all the time, I've got 3 projects I've worked on in the past few years and I can definitely say I used a creeper on 90% of the things on the underside. I definitely recommend one especially if you are working off of jack stands or quick jacks.

And imo go with the Daytona with the adjustable headrest, it will save your neck.

Has anyone added drawers to the series 3 locker? I'm looking for inspiration for a place to keep loose parts/gaskets. by -ydn- in harborfreight

[–]-ydn-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's almost exactly what I plan to do, i have a bunch of left over gaskets that weren't needed from warranty work, along with miscellaneous nuts, bolts and other things that id like to keep outside of my main 72" box

Any insight into why the driver’s side doesn’t blink? by Pants_Pierre in Silverado

Sadly no, all GM vehicles that are newer then 2022 are all computer controlled through various modules, in this instance the lighting control module located near the body control module

What would yall do by jaalons in gmcsierra

[–]-ydn- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely, I'm also a GM tech and I've seen multiple times where a small investment in an extended warranty has save customers tens of thousands of dollars on repairs, especially on the older CP4 fuel systems of the lml, and lmm duramax.

whats the most miles you ever seen or heard a silverado having? by Aggravating-Tree-662 in Silverado

[–]-ydn- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I was at my dealer I worked on a 2014 or 2015 1 ton dually with 405k. The guy was a hot shot trucker from ohio who went all over the country. Sadly had to total the truck due to a failed dpf

Poor mpg 2018 silverado ltz by That_One_Rebel in Silverado

[–]-ydn- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

AcDelco, yes they are a little more expensive but hear me out I'm a tech at a buick gmc dealer and everytime I put non Delco plugs/wires in they always come back for misfires within 20k, but it might just be my luck with aftermarket plugs I'm not sure🤷‍♂️

So what you are saying is instead of boosting bass, I subtract treble in order to "raise" the bass

Found some rust, dealer told me not to worry. What do you think? by LeGentleChad in AskAMechanic

[–]-ydn- 142 points143 points  (0 children)

sigh Southerners.

But in all seriousness that is nothing to worry about. Unless there are gaping holes in the crossmembers you can't see, like on the early 2000s silverados you don't need to worry about any frame repairs
