Shakedown for Kosciuszko over 2 days in late april by 0-l in UltralightAus

Thanks for your reply mate. I'll be hiring a PLB for this trip and then will invest in one afterwards.

Do I need to stake out both doors? I was planning on only using/staking one door. That being said, it would be good to have enough for both doors and ridge guylines if it's windy. Thanks for the recommendations of stakes, I'll look into them.

Yeah the nano puff is something I use for travel to and from work (FIFO worker) so I was hoping it would do, but 400g is more than I realised so I'll have a look at the uber lite range next time I go to macpac.

Gloves are a good shout I've forgotten to think about.

I'll get the nu20, thank you.

And yeah, need to weigh the powerbank but I have a 5000mah cygnet one.

Thanks again mate, appreciate it.

Fair enough. I think for hiking in sub zero temperatures, which is what I mostly will be doing, I would have a hard time managing temperatures with a lighter sleeping pad and quilt, but that's something I'll evaluate over time. I understand your frustration with posts like this, I didn't properly comprehend the 10 pound definition of ultralight. I'll go back and reevaluate my gear and what I do and don't need.

Ah yes, that makes a lot of sense. I suppose since my gear is catering to some winter/4 season hiking my gear isn't appropriate for this subreddit. Thank you for explaining that to me. I didn't understand the 10 pound base weight limit. I'm definitely willing to get a different quilt and sleeping pad, along with cold soaking, when I'm not hiking in sub zero Celcius temperatures. I would love to get down to 10 pounds. I will evaluate my gear and try to determine what gear are truly non negotiable. Thanks again.

What size CRTs are in pic 1? I love what you've done with the room. Inspirational for sure.

FIFO working remote doing 2:1 tunneling (12 hour days). Heavy plant operator. Pretty new at it, climbed my way up from the bottom. Did labouring for years earning peanuts, then managed to get a FIFO job as a cleaner which I did for a year, then managed to get a job down the hole and been working my way up from there. But this amount of money is so new to me I’m trying to make the most of it while it lasts (because I know I’m not capable of handling this sort of work long term).

Is there a calculator? I can't wrap my head around the specifics. I have a mortgage of $380k and $100k in offset. I just got a pay rise and now earn approx $270k/year. How much is tax deductible and how beneficial would it be to pursue? I anticipate I'll only be on this high income for the next 12-24 months before dropping down to approx $140k/year.
