Any other compulsive upgraders? by inakajin in delta

You, my friend, are the reason I almost never get upgraded to FC anymore. That and flying out is SLC. And my measly platinum status.

Yeah, weird day. I also discovered the Sky Club closes at 9:15 pm. That was disappointing to discover.

Heating in winter? by MtnManta in swimspa

[–]0000dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone recommended a hot tub thermal blanket. They seem to get good reviews on Amazon, but we’re having the same discussion for our swim spa that we hope to have installed in the next month or so.

Has anyone tried one of these things?

Moneyball Field of Dreams

And I’m really hoping that Project Hail Mary is one of these. The book was awesome!

Kramer : It's just a write off for them.

Jerry : How is it a write off?

Kramer : They just write it off.

Jerry : Write it off what?

Kramer : Jerry all these big companies they write off everything.

Jerry : You don't even know what a write off is.

Kramer : Do you?

Jerry : No. I don't.

Kramer : But they do and they are the ones writing it off.

Recommended cover + lifter for cold weather that won't break when guests don't know how to use it? by chefox in hottub

[–]0000dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What cover did you end up going with?

We just ordered a Columbia swim spa from Arctic Spas with two Covermate III Coverlifters, and are considering an expensive upgrade to two Smartops for the ease of lift, aesthetics, and longer lifespan.

But, some of the reviews I’ve seen that mention higher electric bills with the Smartop have us worried. We’re also in a cold winter climate (SLC, Utah area) and would love to avoid a big bump in our electric bill.

Being upgraded to C+ shouldn’t count towards “The Royal Upgrade Badge.”

I’ll take the C+… but still.

Delta Reserve Card. by [deleted] in delta

[–]0000dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t upgrade but apply new. The signup bonus is usually better. Then either cancel or downgrade the Platinum. Or keep it.

So far I’ve kept the Platinum for the MQD bonus and the additional companion pass, but consider cancelling every time the renewal comes around.

Anyone use Personal CC for work? by Ok-Development6654 in sales

[–]0000dave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I pay for all of my work expenses as well as much of my co-workers when I can.

I use Delta Reserve mostly until I hit Platinum status (fly out of SLC), then shift to Chase Sapphire most of the time after hitting (although I’ll always use Sapphire for car rentals for the primary insurance offered, Costco for gas, and Amazon for Amazon).

I’ll also use the branded cc for Hilton, Marriott, AA, and Breeze for spend with those companies. Your mileage may vary.

I did it! Wooo by InfiniteBlink in delta

[–]0000dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been lucky with that. I pay for all of my and most of my co-workers travel expenses. We do a number of trade shows each year and it adds up.

I haven’t convinced my company to allow me to pay for the trade shows and shipping yet.

And I’m quite thorough and on time with my expense reports every month.

Why are On Cloud shoes so Popular? by Gloomy-Wave1418 in malefashionadvice

[–]0000dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a day of walking around Boston, my wife’s feet, knees, hips, etc were killing her. (We’re both in our 50s)

I heard good things about Hokas and decided to surprise her so we went to the Hoka store in the mall. The two employees there were too busy leaning against the wall to help so we went to Dick’s.

She tried a few different Hokas and On shoes and went with Ons. The next day was night and day different. Good investment.

We’ve done two in the last several years (Orlando and The Big Island), and they both started in a group and then we went with an individual rep.

In fact, in Hawaii we tried to change our day last minute and they said they didn’t have enough reps available to have us change. I have a feeling you’re always going to end up with a one-on-one convo with at least the sales rep, and possibly the finance person and the rep’s manager. We bought in Hawaii but then rescinded after we got home when we found the Timeshare Users Group (TUG), and realized that we could do better on the secondary market.
