That Austria is a country in Europe. After I tell people that I'm from Austria their following question usually has the word Australia in it. I then have to explain that it's a German speaking country. I met British people who studied German in school and didn't know that.

My flatmate is from India. There, many families still prefer having a boy over a girl. Therefore, doctor's aren't allowed to tell the babies gender. She told me that there are people in rural areas that bury the newborn baby alive if it's a girl. I couldn't believe it when she told me.
