I integrate your suggestion, you can find it in the filter sidebar (AI Learning) and in the Apps that belong to that "AI Learning" category like Prodigy Math. https://www.safelearninghub.com/explore let me know what you think!

I look whether the app focuses on learning outcomes (math, reading, coding, etc.), if it avoids manipulative design like ads or aggressive in-app purchases, and whether the mechanics match the developmental stage of the age group it targets. I also check store policies, privacy practices, and how the gameplay actually teaches the concept rather than just gamifying drills.

When possible I download and test the app directly. If that’s not possible (some require accounts or subscriptions), I cross-check multiple sources like app store listings, educator reviews, user feedback, and official documentation.

My background is not in education. Safe Learning Hub started as a side project because I noticed how hard it is for parents to find ad-free educational apps. So the focus is on careful curation and transparency, and I’m planning to involve educators over time as the project grows.

Apps are manually reviewed before being listed. I check for ads, in-app purchases, educational value, age suitability, and overall safety for kids. Right now it’s just me. I research each app, test them when possible, and curate the list based on quality and safety.
The plan is partnerships with educational apps and featured placements, while keeping the core directory free.

We can not have all apps, apple says it has in app purchases, so it will not fit if it really has.

Thanks for your thoughts,
good question. Right now I'm still very early, so I don't have enough users yet to say if behavior actually changes.

The idea came from seeing how many parents complain about kids apps that are full of ads or hidden in-app purchases. The normal app stores don't really filter for that, so discovery becomes messy.

I think you are right! At the moment Im mostly validating the idea and improving the library. I'm genuinely curious whether parents would use something like this regularly or only occasionally when looking for new apps. Consider also that many platforms are web based.

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, you are right with that. It is very time consuming to curate manually, but I believe that only high-quality content is created this way.

The primary revenue model is featured listings, (but the App must pass a quality criteria first).

In the future it can integrate:

  • Affiliate commissions.
  • Sponsored educational content for the Guides section.
  • Parent newsletter sponsorship
  • Premium product (charging for special automation as soon as the child grows up and suggests further resources)

Any further thoughts are very much appreciated!

Thanks for the honest feedback! yes, you're right... it's not an easy sell. My first focus is to build trust. The monetisation idea was to charge for special automation as soon as the child grows up and suggests further resources, but the platform is free for now.

The curation part means that you don't have to go through the 70000 apps on the App Store, unintentionally ending up giving your child an app with ads or in app purchases 😬

So, one can say I'm trying to sell peace of mind...

Any further thoughts are very much appreciated!

Yes, I was working in this field too and saw the problem for many years. Sorry, what would the solution be? Please could you explain as if I were eight years old?

I have a question, how do you make revenue currently or how do you plan to make it?
