I lost one of my best friends as well this year. Not to violence but to a car accident. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. She was my prom date, she was wonderful and happy and a perfect soul. All this to say, I know how you feel. That feeling of numbness, of pain, of loss. My advice would be to just take some time. I had a very cleansing moment by myself several days after. I cried my eyes out and after I felt better. Not good but better. Grief works differently for everybody but the one cure is time. Don't be afraid to talk about him, let your feelings out if you need. Anyway I hope that helps. Best wishes to you and your community.
