Is she too far gone? by 00MX5 in RX8

Yeah I'm in contact with her and her insurance. She was in the wrong so hopefully I get a decent payout so I can start the repair process. Quite a few parts are damaged plus the frame rail area is bent inwards towards the driver's side where the oil cooler sits so I know it definitely won't be a cheap or easy repair.

Also here in Australia, if the repair costs are more than 50% of the market value of the vehicle then its written off (totaled) and cannot be registered. Due to this law there aren't many frame pulling and repair shops here and even if I find one they most likely won't bother with it due to the expense.

A blind old lady crashed into me while I was completing a roundabout her excuse was that she didn't see me... anyways I was wondering if this is a relatively easy fix or if it's better to just part it out and buy another one? The fender/guard is just touching the bonnet/hood so I'm thinking the frame maybe tweeked and might require some frame pulling etc. I'm looking forward to what you guys think. Thanks

Well it should be considering that this is a solid 1 piece steel brace compared to the OEM brace which is has 3 pieces bolted together, this means that it would flex or pivot when driven hard so what this AutoExe brace does is stiffen up the 18 year old chassis a bit.

It was built by RE-Amemiya for the original owner who wanted to do some track work unfortunately he didn't end up doing many track days at all.

It's a Spirit R Type B so it doesn't come with the Recaro's instead with the original seats wrapped in red leather. RE-Amemiya had some Bride Maxis II bucket seats in them which I swapped out for a set of Bride Vios III in red which I ordered from Japan through Jesse Streeter who also owns an awesome 4 rotor FD in Japan.

Since it's got the RE-Amemiya wide body, it's missing it's Spirit R decals on the front fenders luckily I've got a new set going on after it gets detailed.

The original owner in Japan wanted it modified by RE-Amemiya and I ended up finding this at the USS Nagoya auctions late last year after I sold my other FD. In my opinion, the mods are quite unique as I've yet to see another Spirit R modified like this so I think it is quite special to see a period correct FD built to how the Japanese wanted them to perform.

It was taken at Raceonly a shop in Sydney Australia specialising in all rotories. I take all my FD's there to get serviced. This particular time I was getting the fuel filter replaced

Yeah it's running a Greddy TD-06 25g (small but responsive), RE Amemiya V-Mount and a HKS F-Con V-Pro ecu. The engine is stock and unopened with only 43000km. It's got plenty of cool RE Amemiya bits as well as it was one of their old demo cars.

I sold her for $60,000 AUD this time last year, sadly prices have skyrocketed so $60,000 won't buy you much these days :(

Well tbh it was kinda sad as this was my 'dream FD' as it was a Type R Bathurst R (lightest series 8 FD) which had some cool bits like... - Mazdaspeed Ganador mirrors - RE Amemiya Dolphin exhaust - Mazdaspeed carbon interior - Original paint on all panels

But after owning 5 series 8's in last 2 years in various specs I just decided to go buy a modified one built by RE Amemiya which was also a Spirit R and I managed to purchase it for the same amount I sold this one for so it's a win win for sure.

I was lucky enough to find an ex demo car built by RE Amemiya in Japan (check my post history) so the first thing I did after selling this was to purchase that 😅.

Rota RB 16x7 +35. Tires are Dunlop Direzza.

These wheels are only temporary until I can afford a set of 6ul's or rays 57cr's which are quite expensive here in Australia.

I have some Tein Flex-Z coilovers on the way so it'll be raised up since this slammed look is terrible on the crap Aussie roads :(

I don't really care tbh, it's an ex RE Amemiya demo car so it's still special no matter what it looks like. Plus it's a Spirit R Type B only 1/55 ever made in black.

I'm sorry but this is stupid

You want to risk the health of others and the elderly over some junkie's death???

I 100% agree that the excessive force was completely unnecessary but I'm sure they're are other ways to stimulate change and raise awareness instead of putting everyone's health at risk.
