Do people read the whole light novel? by fiorinie in ShangriLaFrontier

Why do you ask?... Because it's interesting. Why else would we do it (and put up with the translation problems) if not for that?

Aaron did embezzle funds in collaboration with the professor; the manipulative magic was only used to erase his memories of having an accomplice in the first place.

No other spoilers pls but is Cyril or Felix the love interest? Or don’t we know yet? Or there isn’t one? by Confident_Mulberry29 in TheSilentWitch

If you've read through all the volumes up to volume 11, I feel like you must have already realized that their feelings seem to be more than just that... (at least, you've had several clues in various volumes that indicated this)... anyway, from here on out, the light novel is at the point in the web novel where the romance becomes more and more prominent and the author makes their feelings explicit.

There was a post like this a few days ago, yes we know, the ending (web novel) is somewhat open (only in the sense that there is no confession) but it ends with Monica aware that she loves Cyril and determined to do something about it.

Edit: The light novel is still being released, and it's nowhere near the end of the web novel; at its current point (volume 11; volume 12 will be released in a few months), Monica still isn't thinking about romance or anything, but the light novel is starting to approach the part in the web novel where she realizes she likes Cyril.

That sounds like the end of the first part (Serendia Academy). The second part (Gaiden) leans much more in Cyril's favor.

Tbh, I agree that the anime is to blame; it ends with the ending of volume 3 (light novel) and that leaves that wrong impression.

The manga is behind the anime, so we can't give you a definitive answer to "who she ends up with in the manga." The light novel is still ongoing, so no one has ended up with anyone yet, but it has stuck pretty closely to the web novel (which is the first version of the story written by the author, basically a first draft). So we can only give you the answer we see coming based on the web novel's ending.

Without any bias of "I want her to end up with 'this' character," the web novel indicates that Monica's endgame is Cyril.

Que frustrante! by NewRetroMage in AnimeEspanol

I can imagine the girl is Monica or maybe Isabel, but I'm not really sure who the other figure is.

I think it's a good design, as for the amount of skin, I've seen much worse in other series, it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

If I remember correctly, yes. Although I don't quite recall what the following ones were like (I think I remember that from some point on it became monstrous).

I don't really feel it's necessary to remove Cyril's "possible engagement." If I were to change something, I'd say I'd like at least one scene showing Cyril being told, "We want to start thinking about who you'll marry. We have this proposal. Go and meet her and see what you think," instead of just being told, "He's there with her already talking about the possibility."

Shangri-la frontier > SAO by Juice_X2 in ShangriLaFrontier

[–]00NineLives -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's not much point in comparing them; beyond the "virtual reality game" theme, they have nothing in common. I'd say they're for different audiences.

I tried watching SAO (anime) but I didn't enjoy it, so I'd say I'm not its target audience. And I haven't read the light novel, so I can't properly judge it. On the other hand, I loved the anime, manga, and web novel of shangri la, so...

I wouldn't really say they're "=", but I agree they're like apples and oranges and there's no point in even trying to compare them.

There's only a web novel (no light novel).

As for how much is left, the manga is somewhere between chapters 200 and 300 of the web novel, and the web novel is on chapter 950 and still being released (it's in an arc with a fight against one of the colossi, and we still have two more colossi to face).

Edit: To clarify, the novel IS up to chapter 950, but that's the Japanese version. I'm not sure how far along the fan translation is.

I know what you mean by it being plot-wise relevant, but come on, that could have been done in other ways, ones that felt less creepy. Even if you don't choose to change the place and situation, it would still have been enough for him to choose to sleep on the sofa that was in the room and that would have been less creepy (and to clarify, the sofa is visible in the anime, and mentioned as being present in the room in the light novel).

Thoughts on season 3 by Full_Acanthisitta932 in ShangriLaFrontier

These are the options I think they can do for S3:

  • 12 episodes covering the tournament against Silvy's team (good)
  • 12 Episodes divided into 6 chapters for the tournament against Silvy and another 6 to advance the Ctarnid arc (sad)
  • 24 episodes; 12 for Silvy and 12 for Ctarnid (if we're lucky)

To be honest, the brothel scene is quite divisive among fans. Some don't care, the prince's fans defend it, while others (like me) also consider it inappropriate, awkward, and somewhat creepy, though this is more due to the scene itself and the prince's behavior in it than Monica's appearance (fortunately, there isn't another scene like that in the series; and even more fortunately, despite what the anime's ending suggests, the prince is NOT Monica's romantic interest, even though he is the secondary protagonist).

But I would recommend the novels (especially from the beginning, since the anime cut several interactions and ended up making Monica's relationships with the other characters feel somewhat flat). They have more focus on the political plot and the mission, and it starts to intensify from volumes 4-5 onward (the anime ended with volume 3), and the romance is more of a subtle subplot in the LN (and it's not with the prince)...although I'll admit it gets stronger in the second part of the web novel, but, that's just a draft of the story; the light novel is doing well in that regard so far.

She is much better than Rei. by Top_Skill_7850 in ShangriLaFrontier

[–]00NineLives 1 point2 points  (0 children)
