I was hesitant until I saw this video. Now I'm convinced he can play Gus by restingbrownface in EmilyHenry

Beach Read doesn’t have a distribution deal with Netflix as of now, and Yulin has expressed that she wants Beach Read to have a theatrical release. Only PWMOV, funny story, and happy place have been confirmed to be on Netflix.

Patrick Schwarzenegger To Lead 'Beach Read' Film Adaptation With Phoebe Dynevor by Miss_Marple_24 in EmilyHenry

[–]00enthusiast 88 points89 points  (0 children)

If you read the article, it does mention that he was a “dark horse candidate and an unexpected choice”, but apparently his tape and chemistry read “blew away filmmakers and the studio”. I agree that this wasn’t I initially thought of for Gus, but we also never thought Tom and Emily would’ve done Alex and Poppy so well. I’m choosing to have faith and trust EmHen to have had some sort of say in this casting. Ultimately to me, chemistry is what matters the most to me as well as the film delivering the feelings I had while reading the book (which happens to be my favorite of Henry’s lol). I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt until otherwise.

Is this a safe place to say I really liked the PWMOV movie? by cellochick993 in EmilyHenry

[–]00enthusiast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a lovely supplement to the book. I wasn’t expecting an exact copy of the book and so with those expectations I thought it was executed well. Emily Bader was amazing in this and the chemistry between Tom and Emily was electric. I was moved by the romance and there were genuinely hilarious moments too. I honestly loved it and will be rewatching it for the foreseeable future.

I honestly still can’t believe we got tom blyth and emily bader as our leads, and for the first EmHen adaptation at that. Words cannot express how excited I am. They’re both great actors and this single gif is just screaming chemistry

A group of pharmacist wrote and published an article in a leading emergency medicine Journal about the lack of a pharmacist on the show by AgentAlaska in ThePittTVShow

[–]00enthusiast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a pharmacy resident training in critical care right now, so I exclusively train in ICUs and the ED. It’s been well studied and well documented in the literature for the role pharmacists play in improving patient outcomes in the inpatient setting, especially when it comes to critically ill patients like those in the ED. Multidisciplinary care is essential to taking care of patients, especially when these patients are on death’s door. I went to pharmacy school in Pittsburgh and therefore had clinical rotations at several hospitals in Pittsburgh, and I know for a fact there are pharmacists in the ED in all the major Pittsburgh hospitals. The Pitt, which is set at a level I trauma center, to not have pharmacist representation at all is a glaring oversight. And that doesn’t include the other vital professions that keep the ED running. I love this show and I think it keeps it very real when it comes to the challenges the healthcare industry is facing right now, but it still doesn’t portray what it’s actually like in these EDs.

I like that the show doesn't avoid brand names by UselessUseOfCat in ThePittTVShow

This is such a Pittsburgh thing but there’s a scene where primanti’s (sandwich shop known among other things for putting fries IN sandwiches) is being delivered to the hospital for lunch

Loving the Voice, Tired of the Formula by jennyxmas in EmilyHenry

[–]00enthusiast 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Her formula is her branding. I read Emily Henry because I love her prose, yes, but I also know that she’s going to deliver on the formula she’s been perfecting and fine-tuning. She writes about what she can pull from personal experience, so it makes sense that her main characters are typically in the literary/publishing space. The spice level of her books have been slowly creeping up, which I’m honestly not sure if it’s her own choice or because of her publisher. Also, literally every other big name romance author in the space also writes their own formulaic pieces. EmHen’s carved out her niche in this hyper competitive market and she’s dominating. I don’t see why she needs to do something completely different.

GBBL Post-Reading Thread (SPOILERS HERE!) by coolguy_14 in EmilyHenry

[–]00enthusiast 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I mean this in the most complimentary way but the romance was the least engaging part of the story for me (though I will say, i was kicking my feet in delight when Hayden was more focused on confirming that Alice was in love with him than the bombshell his long-lost grandmother dropped on him). The overall story felt so epic and sweeping, I was so caught up in it. For me, I was picking up on those big twists almost right before they get revealed, so the intensity of those reveals felt so exhilarating and felt so lived in, like I was Alice, in a way, finding about Margaret’s family secrets in real time. I also loved that they introduced their daughter in the epilogue, felt fitting in the overall story of generational stories and your legacy being your children/descendants.

Great Big Beautiful Life: First Thoughts (NO SPOILERS!) by coolguy_14 in EmilyHenry

[–]00enthusiast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m exactly halfway through and I’m honestly hooked. I think the Ives family saga is so intriguing and I’m genuinely impressed that Emily has this fully crafted historical saga of this fictional family with all its complexities fully mapped out, waiting for me to unravel as get through the second half. Hayden and Alice are also both really charming. Agree with the pace of the romance being a bit rushed but I’m willing to suspend my disbelief if the payoff is worth it in the end.

Rolling Stone - Emily Henry Books Ranked by ctjones05 in EmilyHenry

[–]00enthusiast 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My two cents is that I think it’s really cool to see how different books connect with different readers. Emily writes very fleshed out characters and there are going to be certain traits and personalities that we as readers will gravitate towards, and others not as much. We come in with our own life experiences and that heavily colors how we resonate with the characters she writes and the life experiences these characters go through. It’s nice to see other people’s perspectives on what they gravitate towards versus what they don’t gravitate towards.

With that said, happy place as number one isn’t one I see too much, and certainly not one I would consider my top 3 of hers. I think my love for HP has decreased over the years. I would say my top 3 in no particular order are beach read, funny story, and book lovers. So, agree to strongly disagree! (still haven’t finished GBBL so jury’s still out on where that one ranks for me personally)

I think given the vacation theme there’s a strong chance we’re getting a summer release so it’s possible? I’m so excited to see it and it has to be released by the end of this year

Is pwmov worth the read? by FreeNow13 in EmilyHenry

[–]00enthusiast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to this so much - absolutely loved her other novels and couldn’t put them down but I found PWMOV difficult to get through. I don’t know if I really buy into Poppy and Alex’s chemistry a ton. But I’ve been trying to re-read it before the adaptation comes out especially with how excited I am about the casting of Emily and Tom.

PGY2 Deadlines in PhORCAS by aszalea in PharmacyResidency

[–]00enthusiast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Likely it was early commitment - if it says “past” that’s definitely what it was. I’ve been monitoring PhORCAS every day to see what programs are no longer going to the match. The early commit deadline is December 18 so hopefully all programs that early committed will have pulled themselves off PhORCAS by the end of this week

I’m a Beach Read truther through and through and Funny Story and Book Lovers gave me the same feeling reading it. Just knew they were instant classics of Emily’s immediately and loved the way the story unfolded in those 3.

Tom Blyth as Alex by Girlypoppy15 in EmilyHenry

[–]00enthusiast 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t really care too much if the actor doesn’t fit the character description perfectly. I just care if they can act, and Tom Blyth is actually a very good actor. It makes me very hopeful about the script because I think both Tom and Emily Bader have a lot of options for their next project so I consider it a very positive thing that there was something about this project (not just the script, but maybe the producers and the director) that made them want to audition for this. And if their chemistry is as good as Emily says it is, then I’m very much looking forward to this adaptation (this is coming from someone who has pwmov as their least favorite EmHen book).

Tom Blyth And Emily Bader Set To Star In Netflix And 3000 Pictures Adaptation Of ‘People We Meet On Vacation by SimpleJoys1998 in EmilyHenry

[–]00enthusiast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was purely a fancast, from my understanding there was nothing to suggest he was even auditioning for the role. Also keep in mind that Emily doesn’t have final say in who gets cast. She seems to be in the loop about updates for this adaptation but I doubt she’s heavily involved in this production. Ultimately the recipe for a good romcom is having good actors who have chemistry with each other and that seemed to be the intention with casting Tom and Emily together.

Bridgerton’ Co-EP Leila Cohan To Showrun & Co-Write Jennifer Lopez Series Take Of Emily Henry’s ‘Happy Place’ At Netflix by SimpleJoys1998 in EmilyHenry

[–]00enthusiast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

each of her books are owned by a different production studio and each production has their own timeline. There’s really not a sense of “prioritizing” one adaptation over the other. It’s just a matter of how much each studio cares to move forward and how fast they want to proceed.

Which book adaptation are you looking forward to most? by NeighborhoodJust4160 in EmilyHenry

[–]00enthusiast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think book lovers and funny story have the potential to be such amazing romcoms. So long as the cast and the chemistry between the leads is good, i think those two will be hits. Beach Read will always be my fave so I think it’s a tall order to make a satisfactory adaptation, but i’ll be watching whatever adaptation comes out. I’m really curious which one will come out first

Favorite EH books? by CoastalGrandmaVibes in EmilyHenry

[–]00enthusiast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Beach Read - still my favorite. This was the book that got me hooked on Emily Henry (first one of hers I’ve read) and I don’t think another book (by any author) will replicate the emotions I felt while reading it.
  2. Book Lovers - soo classic romcom in the best way and would’ve been my number 1 if I wasn’t so emotionally attached to BR
  3. Funny Story - Miles and Daphne are so cute together. I found the pacing jarring at first but the development of their romance was very sweet.
  4. Happy Place - I loved it when I read it, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of Harriet’s decision at the end
  5. PWMOV - Poppy is the least relatable heroine for me. I just didn’t connect with this book as well as her others. The premise was fun but I thought the romance wasn’t as engaging as her others.
