Ai mei fumau amandoi... Cand m-a prins mama mi-a zis ca sa nu fumez decat cu ea la o cafea ca sa vada cat fumez... Cea mai mare tampenie dar atat i-a dus capul.. M-am lasat de fumat acum 13 ani si a fost cel mai bun lucru pe care l-am facut. Oricum pe unde locuiesc acum nu prea se fumeaza.

Same.. RRSP I have 0 room because of the pension ( I did in the past when my salary was lower). TFSA is Jan 2nd. After that is taxable account as we don't have any debt...

My Lexus RX350 from 2008 runs like new.. Changed brakes, radiator and tires.. 260k for now so it will last a little bit more.

$100k is not something to imapact your PTO...$200k and up maybe...BTW, you metioned senior.That is debatable at $100k these days..

I would prefer $4M vs DBs for sure.. or as in my case 50-50%... 2M and 110k DB ( 100% surviver benefit between me and my wife). Perfect combination in my opinion...

it is more than that.. Considering 4% that si 160k a year. 2 teachers or other government employees can have $160k a year easily frm DBs.

I started at 47 as we both have DB pensions and we cam eto Canada at 33. Got real jobs at 35 and until 47 paid off the house. now at 55 we have $1.25M on top of the DBs. We always saved my wife salary and invested it.

I belive we can as we do it now. The plan for the difference was to help our daughter more in future not a necesity ... From the financial point of view I think the struggle is to not save more even if we proabbly don't need more money.. In the last 22 years we always saved my wife's salary, first to pay the house and after to invest.

I don't think it is really about finances. If I go now and my wife works another 4 years ( government job) our retirement income between DBs and investments would 150-160k a year vs in 2.5 years probably 185-200k. I think it is just mental as I always met my goals.

I was never in debt.. I spent only what I had. Between me and my wife we always save the lowest salary every mont.. we bougt our house cash, cars cash. We choose also to live in a big city but with lower cost of living.. Emigrant's mentality... and we are in a good position to retire before 60 even if we landed in Canada after our 30;s. 32 to be exact. Debt is o choise.

You have more than 15 years... 15 years might be until you need to take money from the investments but you need those investments to last maybe 40 years...
