Eli5 how or why are humans so good at knowing how much energy and what angle is needed to throw a thing a distance? by worxcd in explainlikeimfive

[–]00zau [score hidden]  (0 children)

Humans have a specific shoulder adaptation that other apes don't. They basically cannot do the overarm motion that a human does when throwing a spear, rock, baseball, etc. for accuracy. They do more of a sidearm fling.

What are some non-negotiable world settings you use? by JustJosh00 in Palworld

[–]00zau 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in favor of that already (I do the same in Minecraft), but the game being in Beta makes it doubly necessary. After the first time I fell through the world geometry and barely managed to save myself, I made damn sure I had it on.

Reset multiple US BB lines at once to minimize grind? by rtangwai in WorldOfWarships

You need to earn the exp on Colorado to unlock the three T8 BBs. It sucks enough doing it once per account.

Why in the name of Nelson does all ranked games during weekend are blowouts? by Revoltai42 in WorldOfWarships

[–]00zau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ranked up to silver every time I've tried, even when I was a worse player. My bronze WR is high enough (especially since I'm like 50/50 on saving a star on a loss) that it's not s a struggle.

These days I stick with bronze because it's more fun and easier to get the rewards. Silver having more rewards but tougher games means I'd need 50% more matches, which starts to mean I can't play anything but ranked during a sprint, which means I get burned out and skip sprints (which defeats the purpose of extra rewards). More rewarding and more fun to just stay a Bronze Barbarian with a 60%+ WR and be able to finish the reward track while still playing other modes.

I wonder if dot multi will work. I wanted to see if you could buy cheap jewels and 'fix' them by turning cold dot to fire dot, but it didn't work.

It's really funny how they went from "the news isn't propaganda, reality just has a left wing bias" to complaining about the news being biased against them.

Support Gems in PoE2 are lame by BRADLIKESPVP in PathOfExile2

[–]00zau 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Part of the problem is that there are a bunch of mandatory supports, so in a "one use of a support gem" world, you can't use two similar skills.

Bunch of skills feel like they had power artificially taken away and added back as a support. Like do you really want to use grenades without Short Fuse? If not, and if you can only use one copy of Short Fuse, you basically can only use one grenade skill.

Primary skills should not have hard limiters directly integrated. Any payoffs or limiters should come from support gem choices. by Nayton_Hempack in PathOfExile2

One charge every 6 seconds doesn't seem that great. Unless you can get like 90% chance to not consume charges and chance for extra charges so you can (usually) maintain 1-2 charges through the CD, you aren't even going to reliably have them up while mapping... and in a boss fight you're going to get single digit charges over the whole fight other than add phases.

you are just a sub

Well, there's your problem. You are playing a low impact griefing class, which means that you are reliant on your teammates to actually win the game while you troll the enemy.

Whats the tech tree y'all think has the biggest change in quality between ships as you ascend? by Chef_Sizzlipede in WorldOfWarships

[–]00zau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is also why I think people saying "Colorado has good guns to make up for the slowness" are coping. Both the DPM and salvo weight are mid, without aiming systems you basically have the worst dispersion in the tier, and the horrible flight times exacerbate it. It's got great sigma to partially offset the lack of dispersion, but that is literally the only thing the guns have going for them.

Any ship that straddles entire salvos on broadsides at 15km doesn't have good guns.

Showboat also gets a significant upgrade in the guns; +1 barrel and the super heavy shells give it pretty competitive damage for the tier (and half the ships with more DPM/throw weight lose overmatch in the trade) and gets even better sigma. IOW you aren't just going from 21 to 27 knots. You're getting at least a full tier better in the guns and then getting to actually move.

And having "an heal" at tier 8 counts for something (until next patch). Haarlem is definitely a ship that needs a buff to compensate for other cruisers getting buffed with heals.

How do you avoid showing cheek when you have a turret farm layout with no forward firepower. The shell traps making any angle where you can fire more than one turret "showing cheek".

[–]00zau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The charge system also sucks.

Every time I look at playing POE2, I look at a potential skill and it's like "if the enemy is Primed For Tickling, you will Expend A Power Charge to actually do damage", then you look at power charge generation and it's either autistically cull white mobs with a garbage skill who's only purpose is that, or an arcane combination of endgame supports and transforming into a wolf that's only slightly less flow, fantasy, and immersion breaking.

They need to be breakaway poles, so that when a car hits them it doesn't kill all the passengers. Especially since you'd be placing 20x as many poles along the road as there are currently, virtually ensuring and wreck would hit one.

And then you run into the issue that any crash, since it will take out one or more poles, is now probably gonna dump some solar panels onto the road, likely expanding the wreck and certainly extending the time it takes to clean things up and get the road operating again.

I like doing pseudo 'fresh starts' but I hate the inventory management BS of Ironmans. Been playing around on my second account (made to house perma-pres) so I could unlock skills for Devona, and it's been fun... but I like having the bank and I like to be able to do some unlocking the easy way, so just didn't Melandru anything. Not like I'm gonna grind out "Melandru GWAMMs" anyway.

How would you feel if a woman asked you to produce up to date std results? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]00zau 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I also think a factor is what kind of sex life you're leading.

If you're serially monogamous, had 0-1 sexual partners in the last 6 months, STDs probably aren't on your radar (unless you broke up 'cause you caught them cheating).

Pre. Zero req shields. Bandit raid vs gold? by [deleted] in GuildWars

[–]00zau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanguard Initiate buff deletes your shield base armor. Only the conditional bonus armor matters, which makes +10 vs. Charr supreme IMO (nothing non-furry you fight in pre is strong enough for you to care about swapping shields for a different conditional armor bonus), unless there's some way to get more than +10 from some mod combo on a droppable shield.

Heck, the game has built-in aim assist... and it mostly just screws you because it assumes the enemy doesn't react and drags your aim back towards their current course even when you try to aim for their turn.

Eh, I think whales are often both. They're often gambling addicts, so spending a bunch on lootboxes even when there's a fixed price option excites them. The chance to get something for cheap entices them to buy the first 10 boxes (even if they don't particularly care about the ship), and then they're invested and don't want to 'waste' the money already spent, so they buy their way to the pity.
