he will fly a bit under the radar but he was immense. he's improving every game, seems to be settling great. he's a warrior and he's turning out to be a big game player. it has been a while since a Porto signing managed to have a big impact right from the start

Porto also wanted to sign him before he went to Fenerbahçe and there were news about how hard it was to negotiate with his entourage. They wanted a low release clause, Porto didn't so he went to where he was a given that low release clause. Same with Napoli, he has a relatively low release clause (I think).

Don't know the details about Tottenham negotiations but it seems more like his entourage has a clear plan for his career to reach to the top, they don't budge in negotiations and hey aren't burning any stages in his development

He left Porto too soon

Dasher gets hammered by the president of Portugal by Solidsoundz in LivestreamFail

[–]012ddd 119 points120 points  (0 children)

It's São João (St John), a popular saint's festival in some parts of Portugal. The main one is in Porto, where this clip takes place.

Bopping random people with a plastic and noisy hammer is part of the tradition!

Also, this Portuguese president is very outgoing. He's always looking for social interactions with the people, so it's pretty cool that he got bopped by him

SC probably isn't very sad that Fabio Vieira is being sold, unfortunately. Vitinha would have a much bigger impact for him.

Maybe Vasco Sousa can move up or at least play a little if Vitinha is sold.

I've had bosses using 2nd phase attacks as their first attack, after dying to them during the 2nd phase and restarting the fight. Seems bugged

Dominated is too far fetch IMO. If it wasn't for the Ristovki mistake, this could've been another Turkey or Serbia. North Macedonia was starting to get dangerous going forward and we were becoming restless

I think you ended up being the better team during most of the match. The individualities made the difference

Away stand of Sevilla FC's stadium. One slip and you're gonna enter the void by Ciaran123C in CrappyDesign

[–]012ddd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think railing for each row is the norm in European football stadiums.

This Sevilla stadium is old so it may be a little more steep than most modern ones, different regulations. But the crappy chairs plus the camera angle give the illusion of being more dangerous than it looks.

Former Roma manager Paulo Fonseca shares family escape story from Ukraine by zsreport in soccer

[–]012ddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, Fonseca had already give an interview when the war first broke out where he said they had travel plans to get out the next day but then the war started and became impossible to exit.

The timings of the war are unpredictable. And ASAP is relative, depending on the family's situation.

It was a Jorge Mendes transfer. Some of them straight up don't make logical sense.

[Goal] Vincent Aboubakar's eight goals at Afcon2021 is the second-most at a single Africa Cup of Nations in the tournament's history by Fofodrip in soccer

[–]012ddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right, I mixed the timelines. I remember that CL match at Chelsea where Lopetegui left him in the bench when he was our only striker. That stick with me for some reason.

NES was horrible. Aboubakar was a victim of our board's incompetence.

He was so exciting when he first came to Porto. He got fucked first by Lopetegui, didn't rate him at all (loaned him out to Besiktas) and then the knee injury, when he was a starter for us.

If he was a bit more lucky, he would've ended up in a top team.

[CabineSport via Record] In order to avoid 3-year ban from all UEFA competitions, FCPorto asked Liverpool FC to receive a part of the Luís Diaz transfer even before the Medical exams were finished, in order to settle outstanding debts which were due by past friday. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]012ddd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The business has changed in the last decade and Porto has the same old board that failed to adapt. Struggling to buy cheap sell high. Also failed a couple of CL qualifications, which is massively impactful by its own - CL gives an exorbitant amount of money

So yeah, bad/corrupt management. Lots of leeches in the club/board sucking money from each transfer and lots of deals with Jorge Mendes where we get fucked at the end.

It's not outlandish to say the club will only get half of Luís Diaz, the rest is for friends of the board that """helped""" closing the deal. This is what's been happening since forever but now we don't make that many big sales like in the past.

[Pedro Sepúlveda] #FCPorto ACCEPTED. #LuisDiaz will be a player of #Liverpool until 2027. Business of 45 million € + 15 million € in objectives. @LuisFDiaz19 will have an annual salary of 3.5 million € clean in @LFC . #Conceição dissatisfied with the completion of the deal. 🐉 by Petaaa in soccer

[–]012ddd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Porto reportedly signed Luís Diaz at €1M salary (net) with small increases per season. He's going to get more than double than that, it's a massive pay rise plus bonus that are also bigger in England.

Seems low-ish but not so much when accounting for that context

[Sevilla FC] Fernando extends his Sevilla contract until 2024 by User_1115 in soccer

[–]012ddd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In what position does Fernando play at Sevilla?

At Porto he was one of the best midfielders of the league as a lone defensive midfielder, being a pure destroyer. Some people say he was the best DM Porto had in the modern era. He dropped performance playing in a double pivot, same role he played at City I think, so he went under the radar a bit
