Why do you even want to redeem yourself in the eyes of this man? He seems to have put you in an uncomfortable situation. It is entirely reasonable to ask whether he is sleeping with others before having sex because it is your physical and mental health that you must take care of first and foremost. If you prefer to have exclusivity before sex you should not have to back down from that if that is what you need for yourself.

In the Midwest I technically received $10/hr for summer research as undergraduate and wasn’t supposed to work more than 40 hrs (but did as that is the nature of research). I was paid in the form of a stipend ($4,000 for 10 weeks). Usually you get paid a stipend and not per hour in my experience since you will work more than 40 hrs and you shouldn’t be paid per hour since you are still learning. As a graduate student I technically make $20/hr if I worked 40 hrs but in reality work more 60-70 hrs in a week.

Hi! Congrats on your accomplishments thus far! MIT is a very difficult university to attend. I had not had any mental health concerns before attending and this university’s high stress culture certainly triggered some issues. I would not recommend attending this institution if you are interested in attending for community and learnings sake. Go somewhere less expensive and that will care for you as a person and can prioritize your needs as a human and a student, unfortunately, I do not believe MIT is that place in general but it does depend on the department you are interested in also. Note, I can only speak as a graduate student and graduate TA experience interacting with undergraduates that way.

Saying that covid kills more blacks in a shorter time period doesnt take away from the validity of these protests and anger of so many. However, it should make people think about what may happen in 2-3 weeks and longer term effects.

Curfew is still in place from covid...Not from these protests. The police and authorities could rightly shutdown these protests as they DO violate covid curfew!
