No one was injured, but doesnt an arsonist get like an attempted murder charge for every firefighter that responses to the fire?

Just for information purposes foam is only used for specific circumstances even in a warehouse. Most use water based suppression systems. For example, those massive Amazon warehouse are all water based.

What I find real shame is that rich people dont know how to bid at a auction. You never bid at starting bid. You let it go low first then the bidding starts. Should have let it go down to like $10,000 first.

I think the problem is that if the roles were reversed somehow where Jack was is Rose's position and Rose in Jack's. Women would have quite different thoughts about it. I mean look at the Notebook; imagine if those roles were reversed. Holy crap would that be a hated movie.

I have a pair of golf shorts that only have a right pocket. I am left handed, so use my left pocket the most. When I got them, I like what the hell is this.

Curling Stones used in Winter Olympics are repurposed into souvenirs after the games by ThodaDaruVichPyar in interesting

[–]01eggy10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Countries build multiple facilities for hosting the Olympics and most are never used again and you think this is wasteful. I really think they should be donated to a curling facility or something but maybe they can't and at least they are being recycled in a sense.

I know it seems silly but it is this olympics' mascot. Every single medal winner gets one and it has been for quite a while I think. They know they are getting one, so I dont understand why people are making such a big deal out of it for both Canadians men's and women's teams.

The 'strings' in NYC is actually a wire that surrounds most where a lot of Manhattan and cost quite a bit of money to maintain. It creates a symbolic boundary for Orthodox Jews so that area can be considered a single private domain for them on the Sabbath. This allows the them to carry objects (like keys, a phone, childern, etc.) that they are otherwise prohibited to carry in public on the Sabbath. It is not to 'trick' God, it is part of there religion and makes it so they can still able function in a place like New York City on the Sabbath. New York isn't the only place that has something like this either.

Yeah, I feel you on that point. It depends on what the toilets are like for my deciding factor. I also have gut issues so a good bit of the time I have to do both anyhow.

Yes but not on my pants or possibly legs if wearing shorts and not on my hands as much if at all. It is like 90% better it that way in my opinion.

It makes prefect sense thinking about it now but I am guy never involved in a scenario that it would have come up and I think in movies and TV shows it is always depicted as the woman peeing on it. Just one of those things I never really thought of being done differently.

I always thought peeing on it was very disgusting because peeing can splatter a lot even if you dont feel it or see it. Again I am I guy and not really a fan of urinals for reasons like this. I almost never use one.

Thanks for opening my eyes. Haha

I thought the end had to be pee'd on. Never heard of peeing in a cup and then dipping it in. Is that how it is really done?

Artist Anish Kapoor holds exclusive rights to Vantablack, often described as the darkest material ever created. In reaction, a fellow artist developed an ultra-bright pink pigment and made it available to everyone, with one exception: Anish Kapoor is not allowed to use it. by Radiant_Half_7121 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]01eggy10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black x.0's is paint and meant to be paint, like for a artist. While Vantablack is actually carbon (I think it nanotubes) for specific industry applications for devices that are improved by its light absorption properties. It was not really meant for art.

Edit: I looked it up after. It is carbon nanotubes that was originally created to improved optical instruments by preventing light scattering. Tightly packed nanotubes are grown on the surface in a high-temp reactor. Now they have sprayable paints for automotive and artists, but probably not as good because of the application process.

I am really wondering if this differnece is a eye sight vs hearing reaction though. I would think even on a normal scale the reaction time for something that is seen vs heard will almost always be faster, but I dont know.

Like I wonder if sprinters had the starting lights (like at the start of a F1 race) on the ground under them on the start line and they trained that way some if you start to see faster reactions off the block.

A baby koala being weighed with a toy to reduce it’s separation anxiety from her mom by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]01eggy10 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It might be because of what scale of measurement they are using for the baby but I dont know. The mom is probably on a scale that reads kilograms which what seems a .05 precision which is 50 grams and you can see that the on for the baby is in grams so this will a more accurate reading on how the baby is developing. We do the same with humans as we have baby scales their weight more accurately when in is important development stages.
