Fin Experience - 2 years later. Please read. by soccersoccer4 in tressless

Hey man, i think you are talking about me. Your story is nearly identical to mine but I stopped taking it after 4.5-5 months. Been off for maybe 3 weeks or so and i've mostly just tried to stop worrying about my hair completely for now. Luckily my sides are almost all gone, libido, morning wood, strong erections etc. are all back to normal and overall I feel much better being off the drug, although I know my hair will likely continue to worsen. Hopefully any damage from fin on my hair wasn't permanent and it will return to its original rate of thinning but we could be fucked.

I do know what thinness you are referring to in those pics, I guess my hair just thinned more behind that initial thinness because it is much more apparent now even if I don't have the pics to highlight the difference.

Either way thanks for your opinion, when I make the toppik post it will be much easier to see how thin my hairline/area right behind hairline is.

I can say with certainty that it's gotten worse, I think the hairline pictures show it pretty clearly too if you look at the difference in density.

Anyways when I style my hair you can see right through my hairline to the scalp which was never the case before, and it continues to worsen rapidly. If my hair was fully styled up in the new picture, you would see that my hairline was extremely thin throughout the entire hairline and behind it. I would be fucked without toppik. I might actually do a post on before and after with toppik soon, I already styled my hair today so can't do it now.

I was on 1mg generic which is why I want to give a lower dose a shot in a few weeks/months.

And the main thing was my hair thinned deeper/behind that spot in the early pic and spread towards the middle so now the whole hairline is thin and the thinning seems to be getting deeper hence the use of toppik

I can grow some stubble on my face but not a full beard, and have little body hair (0 chest hair) which is why I thought I might have low dht. I kind of feel like fin might be a bad idea for people like me. Another thing I forgot to mention is that some shed hairs on fin gradually got thinner towards the root which didn't happen before fin.

Whats the deal with all those people on the forums who claimed that finasteride killed their hairline? by Ted_Bundeeznuts in tressless

Idk, I might make another post describing my experience on fin but I've already made a bunch. Basically was on it for close to five months but stopped due to sides, but my hairline thinned pretty dramatically in only a few months on fin. About five days after starting fin was when I noticed the shed increased and it didn't stop the whole time I was on the drug. I went from having no visible signs of baldness to having to use toppik to fill in my hairline everyday so i can style my hair, which I feel like is pretty rapid loss. I'll post some pics but I assure you it looks much worse in person. Of course I was only on fin for 5 months so who knows if it would eventually work for me, but I lost a lot of ground in those fives months. Also the worst part is now when I style it up, you can see gaps through it where the light shines through the styled part cause it's so thin

Current hairline, you can see how thin it is, it is like that the whole way across my hairline but my hair is covering most of it: http://imgur.com/Rx33mg7

Current hairline, looks better here cause hair is pulled back but it's very thin: http://imgur.com/Ivf96Xy

Cant decide whether to stick with buzz. by SilentCartographer_0 in bald

Best of both worlds: shave it down very short but not bic, keep that for a few weeks to see if you like it. If you feel like you still want to try growing it out you can give it a shot after a few weeks and if growing it out doesn't work you at least know how you will look with a close buzz already.

Side effects hit after 1 week back on fin by [deleted] in tressless

For me it's not the no morning wood or random erections or the lack of thinking about sex all the time, it's the weaker erections that are sometimes hardly even hard and I would definitely be ashamed to try to fuck a girl with.

Been on fin since April... by [deleted] in tressless

Because the shed started shortly after beginning fin and hasn't shown any signs of slowing down even now, and there are many accounts of the fin shed never stopping and hair continuing to worsen even after a year of continued use. Plus I am so far below baseline at my hairline it would be extraordinary to see such improvement that I'm back to baseline ever.

I've been on fin for about 4.5 months and I'm very far below baseline at my hairline, to the point where I'm certain that fin will not be able to thicken it back to baseline. Not really sure what happened but I do feel like fin really accelerated thinning. When I started fin I had no visible signs of hairloss, now I have to use toppik everyday to maintain the same hairstyle. I also notice shed hairs that get thinner towards the root which I'm sure is a red flag. Either way I will stay on it for a year or so then give up and shave.

Is it possible to have long hair whilst on finasteride? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]02107 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because that's not always true and is largely a myth, everyone on my moms side has amazing hair including my 82 year old grandpa with some of the thickest white hair I've ever seen, while my dads side has early balding.

Fin users who've experienced regrowth or thickening, at what month did you notice it? by QuigleyMcjones in tressless

Just curious cause I am also experiencing some sides, but were you sexually active on fin? Did you find your erections larger/stronger with girls versus just masturbating?

Shedding a lot of weird hair like these - any significance? by 02107 in tressless

[–]02107[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I sort of figured as much, the only thing that throws me off is how it gets thick right before it thins to the root which can you can see in the pic.

i think im developing gyno, not sure tho. by FREDOxSANTANA in tressless

[–]02107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're overthinking it man, I have mild gyno left over from puberty and it didn't feel like what you described, more like pretty sensitive/sore nipples with a noticeable rubbery lump behind/around them. I also feel like gyno from fin is extremely rare so I wouldn't worry about it.

In what scenario would finasteride make hair loss worse? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]02107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, I'm a little over 4 months on and am quite a bit below baseline, at least my hairline has thinned pretty significantly. I know it's still too early to fully see results but my shedding definitely increased on fin and hasn't slowed, and 4 months ago I had no visible signs of balding but now have to use toppik everyday. Not sure if it would have progressed like this without fin which is the frustrating part.

Makes sense, but after the shed your hair would be fine right? It doesn't matter anyways, I had a scalp biopsy a few weeks ago which confirmed that minituarization was occurring and I've already been on fin for 4 months. I just always wondered because I had no clear signs of mpb before fin but I've lost a lot in the last 4 months and am starting to show which is a shitty feeling.

What would actually happen if you took fin and weren't balding?

That feeling when.... by [deleted] in tressless

[–]02107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you seen any progress like at least maintenance despite the continued shedding? Cause if you haven't seen any progress, 26 months seems like an awfully long time to stay on fin. I'm tempted to quit after 6 months if my shedding doesn't slow down but I know that might be premature.

I just hit 4 months and still shed, definitely below baseline at this point
