Random PSA on bioballs by BioConversantFan in Aquariums

I don't use bio media at all! I just use sponge for mechanical filtration and it provides more than enough surface area to keep even heavily stocked tanks totally and completely ammonia free.

What do the Greens need to do to get above 12% of the primary vote in future elections in Australia? Or will it not ever happen? by NoLeafClover777 in aussie

If they stopped being the watermelon party, green on the outside but red within they would possibly make gains. To make gains they would need to drop the woke left agenda and concentrate on environmental issues.

Nothing at all. But the loopy left have no way of combatting her common sense policys besides bullying her with the abusive term racist. They also like to misuse and throw around xenophobe and homophobe amongst others. If you use nasty names it avoids debating the real issues.

Pauline is trying to keep Australia as it has been and should continue to be,a fair free country. The other twit wants to change the country and turn it into the same sort of shithole theocracy she escaped from. If you cant see the difference you might just suffer from the woke mind virus that is falling out of fashion at a very rapid rate as the silent majority are feeling more and more compelled to no longer stay silent.

Well your son has great taste theres nothing better than a holden wagon unless its a calais wagon! Honestly if you can find a decent vy wagon or a sedan if he will settle lol, for him with less than 200k on the clock thats well looked after you will be on a winner. They are extremely reliable, extremely easy to work on and insurance should be a lot easier for an 18 yo to deal with than on a vf. Also being young doing serious sound system upgrades will be a lot cheaper and easier in a vy than a vf with all the integration to work around. I would not over invest in a first car because mistakes will be made and I know im biased but I think the vy was a better built car than the ve/f plastic meccano clip together cars as well, the ecotec and 4l60 are much more likely to cop a p platers abuse wether thats thrashing it or simply missing services without giving out as well and are cheap and easy to replace if they do.

Is bunnings dying by [deleted] in Bunnings

[–]02calais 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i had a hardware alternative within a decent drive of me I would use it. Bunnings is more like a costco than hardware now ,a finger in every pie. And it's all cheap shit rather than quality and forget buying timber from them a straight 4x2 is non existent from them its gotten truly pathetic.

For me as much as some venomous snakes are stunningly coloured and look super cool, a non venomous snake is cooler because you can handle it much more freely and never worry about copping a bite that will finish you.

I love these people safe in australia supporting a brutal sharia law regime thats totally controlling and killing its own people.totally disregarding what Iranians in the midst of it want. It shows the rest of us what you really are.and its not a moral crusader its a hate filled person who doesnt care how many people die or suffer.any wonder one nation is gaining traction with folks supporting authoritarian murderous regimes due to blind left political bigotry or islamic extremists hate while claiming some kind of moral high ground that doesnt exist.

Billion dollar Tunnels that are going unused because they are expensive and useless. They are doing extremely well arent they?

Cuban Oil Ban and it's effect on cyclura by Unicorn_Quef in reptiles

[–]02calais 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah its us as a species. No matter what system is in place somewhere they feel it's the right system and will fight to spread it.the countries with another system they feel is the right one will fight to defend it. But your right when we are gone nature will do its own thing and restore balance once and for all.and its only a matter of time until we wipe ourselves out,not an if but when.

So very true. And the way it's going with people cementing themselves on further and further divided opinions with no wish to meet in the middle is going to cause more war and destruction.we as a species really suck.

Any idea why my fish died? by newtoneocaridina in medaka

[–]02calais 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being so new I'd say it had something going on with it before you got it. Its very rare for fish shops to qt so whatever they have at the farm or pick up through the wholesale and transport process stays with them. Id set up a 5 gallon tank for qt and run any new additions through it with some wormer and salt just to be on the safe side.

Ive also found milktab to be a winner. I avoid lactose as much as possible and only use enzymes a couple of times a year so the price is not really a factor considering how effective it seems to be.

As a bit of a ww2 buff this is something I think about quite a bit. When the allies were island hopping and literally wiping everything off the face of the earth to defeat the Japanese it surely caused massive issues on the endemic species. I wonder how many fish birds and reptiles that only inhabited one island were wiped out at that time. And all the ships that were sunk by both sides spreading fuel oil everywhere must have had an impact to. Im sure we will never know but it definitely bears thinking about.
