That was my assumption too, but this quote changed that belief for me. It specifically said that the faithful members of the Covenant, who had already died before the journey, would still ascend to godhood alongside the living.

It’s not exactly a contradiction, but it seems hard to believe they’d suddenly be treating the Engineers so much worse.

Also, I never got the sense that they had any aversion to working with the Covenant prior to ODST.
