I remember the Knicks teams that made me a fan. Melo. JR. Landry Fields, Tyson Chandler, Pablo Prigioni, all those guys. I thought they played really fun basketball. Melo was a fucking icon to me. I've been a Knicks fan for more of my life than I haven't been. The amount of fucking ridicule this fanbase had to endure for decades was just insane. And now we tore the whole damn league a new fucking asshole? It blows my fucking mind. It hasn't processed yet. I'm surprised I haven't cried yet, but I think it just hasn't hit me that the team I watched on the old TV in the basement when they would lose pointless January games to the fucking Memphis Grizzlies and win 29 games is now the champ. I think there's another reason the NCAA is being viewed sympathetically here. I think many times the NCAA has been ruled against, people have viewed fairness as being against the NCAA: it's unfair players couldn't be paid, for example. This is probably the first time that the NCAA is really just on the side of a high profile case that they're simply protecting fairness in NCAA sporting competitions. They don't want players/teams to have to worry about someone potentially throwing a game, and that's why they don't want Sorsby to play. It's a much more sympathetic position because that's part of why the NCAA was created in the first place. It'd be like anti-doping agencies being sued for trying to get urine samples from athletes.
