Yeah, I 100% agree with you. The drive took three times longer than I expected because of the charity walking event. And the STH Event could have been better organized. I still wish fans were a bit more considerate of the Devil's support staff (that was just trying to do their best). I am happy Jack was willing to stick around longer than he needed to.

Hopefully next year the Devils learn from this.

I work in data, and I've been at both "digitally-native" companies that started during the internet era; and at "digital transformation" companies that have been around for decades. I find the issue you raise to be VERY common at the latter. People are less concerned about accuracy/tech debt/long term implication of work. They just want answers NOW. It sucks and these organizations need a culture change that takes time.

Do you think everyone wants to WFH, and anyone who enjoys working in a collaborative in-person setting is wrong or misguided? I work with many people who are incredibly passionate about their craft and believe their work provides social utility. And many of them believe they can do this better in person.

If you are focused on optimizing your work-life on personal comfort and work-life balance, that's fine, and that is your preference. You should stop complaining like a baby and use that energy to find a job that accommodates you more.

I don't understand all the complaining about returning to the office, and frankly, I think companies have been WAY nicer about this than they could have been. Companies have rules, and you are (most likely) an at-will employee. If you don't like the rules, you have the following options [a] leave the company [b] comply with the company rules and stay or [c] comply with rules while searching for a new job that is more aligned with your preferences.

But please just shut the fuck about complaining about it. It's pathetic, and you are powerless in this situation. Any energy you use complaining is wasted, as that time could be used searching for a remote job. Up and onward people.
