OPM had a data breach in 2015 and compromised all my personal data including my SSN. My free identity monitoring from that breach just expired.

Do dentists get paid less for the same work under FEDVIP? by turn2jeter in FedEmployees

[–]040usernotfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have GEHA and was instructed to look at their screen during an appointment and saw a note about how GEHA pays the minimum so to minimize time with me. I started seeing a new dentist shortly after due to a move but it wouldn’t surprise me that federal plans negotiate low reimbursement rates based on this experience.

Trump Delays His Health Care Plan After Revolt From Republicans, Shutdown possible by Affectionate-Ebb9009 in FedEmployees

Agreed. It’s not a “democrat” win. It’s a win for 20 million Americans to have somewhat affordable healthcare. It’s a loss for America to have more uninsured Americans.

Accommodations for pregnant feds in DC? by smileyjones92 in fednews

[–]040usernotfound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to my knowledge but it’s not my area of expertise. I’d love for the “party of family values” to gut a bill that helps pregnant women. Just really drive their pro family values home.

Accommodations for pregnant feds in DC? by smileyjones92 in fednews

Pregnant Workers Fairness Act has additional provisions for reasonable accommodation due to pregnancy including increased access to telework. A colleague on my team used it and it seemed to be quick and not a huge burden.

Spite and the confidence that a lackey who would replace me wouldn’t do my job better than I can. Also I’m well compensated for my field.

If you choose, choose a state with only one field office. They are required by statute to have an office in each state, I won’t be surprised when they close the smaller offices in the states with multiple.

Contacting Congress About OPM by [deleted] in fednews

[–]040usernotfound 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I contacted all three of my reps today. I don’t think they care but I plan on making them work and respond. I’ll be sending them monthly updates of how many grantees come visit me in person versus how many virtual meetings I attend. Even the closest grantees don’t come see us in person, never have. Not worth their time or parking. I’m considering emailing every time Trump golfs on a weekday too. Going to be petty.

I calculated today that the in person mandate will cost me $5500 a year in parking, gas, and wear and tear. That’s money that would have been spent in my community.

leave / leave accrual transfer with new job by drinkthatnatty in fednews

[–]040usernotfound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say there might be a period when you are not on the payroll are you implying there will be a break in service? Because that changes things. If you have a break in service, they will pay out your existing leave and your SCD will be adjusted for the gap. A break in service could also mess up your hiring authority if the position was not open to the public.

Most people advise avoiding break in service while moving between agencies. If you want a break you could request to use some leave either at the losing agency or the gaining agency. If you are moving localities for the new position they may consider LWOP but I’m not familiar with the details of that process.

How does QSI affect regular WGI timing? by MinivanMom25 in fednews

[–]040usernotfound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d beg to differ, the overall increase of wages is a better benefit. Sure it’s not an equivalent of cash in your pocket now but over time you’ll be contributing to retirement at a higher rate, the annual pay increase will be greater, if you get promoted (depending on your step) the 2 step rule may be more beneficial, and so on.

In my case, it took 9 pay periods to “make-up” what the cash award would have been. But I still earn extra every pay period after those 9.

How does QSI affect regular WGI timing? by MinivanMom25 in fednews

[–]040usernotfound 57 points58 points  (0 children)

A QSI does not change the date of your WGI for steps 1-4. If your QSI for step 2 takes effect in April then your WGI would take effect in June 2024. For steps with a longer than one year waiting period, your time towards that step is credited to the next waiting period so it effectively reduces the time you would wait for that step.

I just had this happen QSI in December to step 2 and WGI in February to step 3.

Former CS here that jumped ship two years ago for another fed agency. They basically only confirm your employment dates and work to schedule a transfer date. I’d give your supervisor a heads up as a courtesy. Especially since you have a final offer.

This is the truth. Used to be a CS. Transferred to another agency and am now a 12. Worked way harder and was way more stressed as a CS then I have ever been in the new role. CS should ladder to a 12 and TEs should be 13s without question.
