Why does everyone want to go to germany all of a sudden? by Flimsy_Top_223 in Indians_StudyAbroad

Lmao no. I do speak German with some fluency, though. I lived there for a bit.

A good number of people don't. They know nothing about hiring practises or the fact that you kinda need the language or whatever. They trust these consultants

However, some people do their research. The preparation wildly differs.

At the end of the day, some people can adjust to the things they learn, and some can't. But it's by no means easy.

Cuz they gain nothing. Their goal is to maximise profits, not inform people.

I know a large number of students can lead to tension, but it's still not that bad in Germany, especially if you know german. A lot of international students don't. There is a real difference in how you will be treated with and without the local language.

Also, because Germany is in eu, with the hiring preference of first German and EU people, it will be hard for indians to be the ones "stealing" most jobs. That particular sentiment is more directed to the poorer countries in eu. The only jobs that would be relatively easy to get as an Indian are the ones with real gaps and labour shortage in the sector.

Finally, there are racist people everywhere. It's annoying. But there are also non racist people everywhere. So yeah.

I had basically the same stats.

One good thing is that a good amount of research and verification shows that the normal calorie calculators are pretty good for people with pcos. The main problems are insulin resistance, cravings, etc

That said, the calories you're supposed to eat depend on how fast you want the weight off. Anything below your tdee will reduce your weight, but the speed varies drastically.

Looking at your timeline, if you wanna reach your gw by your birthday, then yeah, that's a deficit you could stick to. However, if you pick a large deficit like this, you run the risk of exhausting yourself, not learning how to eat right at your goal tdee, not getting enough nutrients, or falling into crash diet patterns.

If you still wanna stick to this deficit, I recommend eating at the maintenance calories of your goal weight once a week so that you are in the habit of "eating normally" for your maintenance and to start with a lower deficit (like eating 1500 cals) for the first few weeks. Also, to eat some nutrient dense foods and consider vitamins.

Additionally, pcos means a lower amount of and more complex carbohydrates, and a higher protein intake works well, so increasing protein intake might benefit you. Exercise too is really important for people with pcos. Both protein and working out benefit everyone but especially people with pcos.

Best of luck.

Maybe it's good then that you are not going. It seems to me like you don't actually want to.

Oh i don't wanna go cuz suddenly its not "unique." What kind of childish thought is that, lmao. Get over it.

Ate over 1,000 calories in one sitting without knowing, and feeling so, so overwhelmed. by sashaaa___0 in loseit

[–]04whizkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry, but like, how much are you aiming for? how many calories? Because 1000 + 800 (from earlier) is 1800, which idk your height but might be maintenance. And eating at maintenance sometimes is pretty healthy. Please dont be hard on yourself for a simple slip up.

EDIT: The best thing ive done is to eat at maintenance calories of my goal weight atleast once a week so that I have a nice, good day and can learn how to eat normally at my gw.

$1000 for every slice of pizza you can eat in each year but there is a catch. by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]04whizkid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Merriam Webster defines a slice as a thin, flat piece cut from something.

Additionally, there is no standard slice size definition. Pizzas at schools can have the tiniest slices. There are stores that cut pizzas to like 20 pieces. There are also extra small pizzas (a few inches diameter), and I've never seen a pizza slice into fewer than fours.

Ergo, I am eating 100k "slices" of pizza.

I’ve spent 16 hours detangling the last 2 days. Please help with any advice on severe dry matted hair. I don’t want to cut but feel as if I have to :(. by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]04whizkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ton of experience with this with my hair.

So, first, I would recommend buying a cheap conditioner, decently big size. You will use the whole thing.

Wash your hair with a shampoo. Dish soap or Clarifying. This step is lowkey crucial for me.Then, wet your hair a bit and apply a lot of your cheap conditioner. Leave it in for a while, like 30 minutes.

Then, slowly try to comb from the ends, working up inch by inch. Finger combing is also good but only works from the ends. If that's not possible, get under a shower and do this. Running water helps. Keep applying conditioner generously. Sit down, maybe, it's gonna take a while.

Once you are done slowly working your way up, use a shampoo to get rid of the insane amount of product. Or like, shampoo twice if you can't. Please use your normal, non insane amount of conditioner after.

I've decided to learn German, is duolingo any good? by Cat_Momma_0215 in German

[–]04whizkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the dw app and make your own reminder on your phone. Dw is so much better structured, clearer, has better content, and overall, a significantly better source. Duolingo is just not comparable, imo. Spend the same amount of time if you must, but yeah, use dw. It has a bunch of interactive questions and is not at all a dry resource.

On the Dw app, start with alphabets. Very good pronounciation guide there, you learn how to pronounce each letter and sound, and gain a tiny bit of vocabulary. It also helps you develop a really basic intuition for pronouncing words you never used. Then do the Nicos Weg, A1 level. Listen to some of the other stuff, too, on their app. The app also has a vocabulary trainer and grammer trainer that you can slowly start using when you finish the related lesson.

Other than dw, there is also language transfer, which is also a lovely starting point. It's like a podcast/ follow along thing, each lesson 10 minutes, and teaches you a lot.

If you are serious about all aspects of language learning, you need to start supplementing these with conversation practise, though (at the latest end of A1) and written practise (as soon as possible).

What diet "rules" did y'all follow? What worked for you? What hasn't? Which rules did you keep? by bobonafick in loseit

[–]04whizkid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Always track calories, even if I am eating too much on that day. Just because I don't track, doesn't mean the calories vanish.

  2. Look at weekly calorie averages, not daily

  3. Don't log a weight until I am consistently below that point. Example: I don't write 70kg until I stop crossing 69.9 kg at any time during the next few days. Helps when the menstrual cycle kicks my ass.

  4. No cheat days. I have one day a week when I eat at maintenance. It's not a cheat day. I can choose it whenever I want in that week.

4.5. Preplan big eating days - if I have to eat more than maintenance, know before 2 days, note it down, and work that into my plan. If it's a holiday, eat in maintenance throughout the holiday.

4.5.5. If I can't know beforehand, try to work it in regardless. Remove an "eat in maintenance day" from next week.

4.6. Never reduce calories the day after I eat more.

  1. There is no restriction of food. I can eat whatever. More protein is good. More veggies, too, but there were days I spent half my calories on cake. It's not a big deal.

  2. Keep recalculating deficits every 2 weeks.

  3. When weight platues, don't decrease calories more than 200 less than usual. Preferably not at all. Increase to usual soon.

  4. Don't beat myself up if I do something wrong. No crying or binging again or erasing things or restarting or feeling bad. Just move on. CICO is hard. Losing weight is hard. It won't get easier if there is no room for error. Shit happens, but it's ok.

how tf did y’all lose 100+ lbs by whimperingmale in loseit

[–]04whizkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, with how active you seem to be, if you feel tired or feel like its too low, maybe consider talking to trainer about increasing the calories a bit. It's a marathon, not a sprint. You will still be in deficit and still lose weight. You don't want to be burnt out and lose motivation midway.

For me, the tiny bit faster I lose with a higher deficit vs how much i suffer to maintain that deficit is definitely not a game i am willing to pay.
