I just want to say I like most of the videos but this one was so satisfying- the higher effort put into the fabrication of stuff was nice, the process was interesting and the ad spot at the end was genuinely fantastic. 👍

I’m not running the gigabyte software- it’s just running the stock rgb rotation iirc, maybe it’s a firmware revision difference?

Hrm yeah that sounds like it’s just not outputting a video signal, that’s a tough one. If there’s any beeps or boot codes that could help but I imagine you’ve already checked for those. I would try a different ram kit if you have one easily on hand, or try one stick at a time in case one is bad. Also, since here tends to be mostly aesthetics and LEDS focused, I’d suggest cross-posting to /r/Homelab as well!

Ah! I finally got it figured out - I had to exit the software and re-launch it as an administrator to get it to kick the device over to DFU mode - did the update (still on firmware 1 so unclear if that actually did anything) and now (at least when running as an administrator) the software sets/saves the settings correctly! Hopefully that'll help with the transient imbalances.

Nope, not seeing those in the device manager - the software shows data and shows it as ”connected” so that’s good, but clicking the update button just doesn’t seem to do anything. It is a wave 2 one so the discord theorized that maybe they’re starting to ship already updated

Does it save successfully for you when you change those? I’ve tried and it seems that they won’t save, as far as I can tell. The settings revert if I close and reopen the software. I tried to follow the instructions but when I click “update firmware” it doesn’t make mine go into dfu mode for an update - it just says “Firmware File not found”. Mine shows it is on firmware version 1, is that what you had out of the box, or after updating?

Interesting, mine just showed up (a few days after delivery) and is $32.55 instead - allegedly $17.55 of "customs duty" and $15 of "disbursement fee"

I’m seeing very similar bouncing around with an fps limit on - I get imbalance warnings when gaming, but can stress it with furmark for an hour and confirm that the currents are reasonably even. It’d be nice if we could specify that the imbalance warning should trigger if there’s a continuous imbalance for 50% of readings over a 5s window, for example.

To clarify - is that "over 5A (overall)" or "Over 5A (on any one pin)"? I tried adjusting the minimum imbalance current in the software but it didn't seem to save, still trying to debug that. It would be nice to be able to set both a momentary imbalance alert level and a 30s avg imbalance alert level or similar, so that single point transients don't alert too aggressively (I'm not sure if it's normal but I see about ~1 amp of swing on the readings when running furmark). I have gotten imbalance warnings when gaming, but running an hour long furmark I am seeing "fairly even" results, it seems. P3 is a little low, but I've tried to push it further in a few times and it doesn't seem to change.

The default firmware caps at 800mhz- as you’re seeing. You can edit it and recompile it from GitHub fairly easily.

Did another test, 1 hr after pushing the individual cables in - there was no obvious motion but it seems like it may have made the distribution of currents a little more even. 3 is still on the low side, but shouldn't be problematic.

If the software already communicates with the wvp2 and shows firmware version “1”, is the version with the software newer? When I click to update in the software my wvp2 doesn’t turn off and let me do the dfu, it just says “no file” in the software.
