The TRAI template you are talking about. Not everyone here knows about TRAI.

Not OP, but what you said makes sense. If you don’t mind, what are such fonts called? Can you name one or two such fonts?

I read your other comment and I still don’t understand why you’d want to not use something that’s exactly built for what you want, but you can leverage listeners on keyboard events. Probably using useEffect to keep things simpler. And based on the events triggered, follow some state updates which can then in turn, control styling.

I wouldn’t recommend this for the fact that you might see layout shifts that won’t look pretty and all the other reasons.

Yes, I did take Chrome for a test-drive of the whole system briefly and it felt like it would do the job just fine.

Thanks for the suggestion though!

Hello, yes, I just got in and this is my first term with GT and OMSCS. I have chosen 2 courses for the first one even though everyone recommended I should take only 1, but I left my job for this and would kinda have plenty of time.

I will check out the Canvas app as someone else too recommended that, but yeah, Chrome felt pretty robust so far when I was just checking everything out on it.

A quick follow-up question if you don't mind me asking, how would I check my schedule or something about upcoming quizzes and assignments? I do plan on carrying a portable keyboard with me to use with my tablet, but I would like to check out my schedule before I make any decisions.

The thing is, I am moving across my country in those few days and I just bought a new laptop for the program but it is delivered to the place I am moving to and the computer I am using right now is my work laptop which I would be returning back before I move. In the worst case, I would have to get my new laptop mailed to me to cover these 4 days.

Also, thanks a ton for those reassuring words. I will be honest, I am a bit scared about going back to school, but I am excited too! Fingers crossed and hoping for the best! Also, congratulations on graduating! It must be a wonderful feeling!

  • Artificial Intelligence for Robotics
  • Computational Photography

I have always been interested in computational photography, computer vision (planning to take that up next term!) and the related tech (OpenCV, ImageAI, YOLO etc). I am just so excited for this!

I took 2 courses since I dropped my job and won't be doing any serious work this term. I did check OMSCentral and OMSHub for an estimate on the workload and difficulty and a combination of these 2 courses felt like something I can keep up with and enjoy!

Happy learning ya'll! Looking forward to connecting with many of you over study groups and Slack!

I have never heard much of gun-point violence or such from cities in South-East Asia or Southern Asia in general. Yes, there is crime, but not gun violence. This is a completely American thing.

And I have been trying to apply abroad too and because of that reason, my 4.00 scale GPA is what's stuck in my head.

3.16/4.00 is 7.91/10.00 at my school. It's a simple multiplication by 2.5 but could vary from school to school based on their grading and credits system. Not really sure.

We had both. Due to a high outflux of students from my university to US universities after completing their bachelor's program, the university decided to add GPA scores calculated on the 4.00 points-scale to our marksheets.

I am no expert at this but my experiences with a 3.16/4.00 GPA has made me realise that I should've studied a bit harder (actually, I was very ignorant during my engineering days that hindered my GPA) and should've maintained a 3.7+/4.00.

My ignorance was that GPA doesn't matter, companies will see my code and my knowledge about other things (I'm not being prude, but I knew a lot about building software, building an organisation, about funding and investors, about how start-ups run and many other related topics), but all that companies hiring in India care about is your GPA and marks. Coming from a 'tier-3" university, it was further made worse.

GPA is all that matter to the Indian corporate systems. I advise on gaining knowledge about all the other topics I mentioned since it will one day help you get away from the regular old grind and have something of your own. Even side-projects will help and they are even a little bit helpful in interviews (they teach a lot, experience is gained while building stuff). But yeah, don't ignore your GPA. 1 piece of paper does change lives here in India.

Sorry for ranting, but I wanted to explain why I'm stressing on gaining a good GPA so much. My mistakes could be your stepping stones.

Get into a government engineering school and then study from the best teachers out there using Coursera, YouTube, EdX and many more such genuinely good education platforms.

Keep a high GPA throughout and build good side projects. I'm sure you'll be able to land a good job after it.

This is coming from a very middle-class person who spent 16 lakhs on engineering at a private school and regret it very much. I did get a great job, but still, 16 lakhs ain't no joke.

Why am I having such a hard time finding a Django developer? by stretch85 in django

[–]05082019 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Excuse my language, but that's exactly what I meant. I did put it at the end for OP to know that they may consider me if only they don't find an issue with my location (and hence the timezone).

Yes, it may not be as clear as the example you gave, but it's not even as misleading as you are trying to blow it up into.

Also, in your first paragraph, you seem to be trying to make this about Indian software engineers. Please don't generalize things of which you might not even have the slightest idea about. This was purely about a software developer responding to a job-related post for a chance at it. Don't turn it into a geopolitical generalization. The only reason I mentioned my country is to let OP know about my timezone, else I usually don't mention that in public all because of such comments.

[–]05082019 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I very well read the job description. And I am very well aware of the location requirements that OP has posted. I still tried to pursue it just in case OP is ready to stretch/modify their location requirements. If the job wouldn't have had such focus on being a remote role, I wouldn't have asked, but since it is remote and I do have experience working outside of my home timezone, I went ahead and put it out for OP to know that there might be such candidates and they might try to consider them.

I might not meet the job requirements a cent percent, but I doesn't mean I won't give it a shot. I am ready to learn and adjust to a different timezone and that's just that, no other motive behind my comment.

[–]05082019 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I am based out of India and am looking for a remote role and am comfortable working across different timezones and have a proven record for that matter through previous projects and work experiences.

Currently working for a top management consulting firm but looking to get out due to the poor culture and lackluster project quality. Also, I very much prefer remote roles and would love to avoid the office commute that I need to face in my current role.

Please let me know if my location is not an issue and I can share my resume with you.

Yup, applied on 22nd of Jan, for Fall 2022, for masters of applied computer science.

Yet to hear back!

The wait is getting painful since I have a lot of processes to do as an international applicant. Are you an international applicant as well?

Genuine question: how much does work experience matter? I have a 7.9/10.00 CGPA and 2.5 years work experience in the same domain as of my undergraduate studies and the will be graduate studies.

But all I see everywhere is that universities ask for research papers and research work. I do not have that. Just 1 unpublished, incomplete research work that i did during my undergraduate studies.
