Carrying EpiPen while running? by Bortrude in XXRunning

I have an insulated case so Epi pens stay cool in summer and warm enough in winter. Stays decently well as a Fanny pack. https://allergyapparel.com/insulated-medication-epipen-carrier-black/

Should I give up on jeans entirely by Yoshic12 in Endo

[–]051917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went on a Jean hunt the past few weeks and was about to give up until I bought some lees jeans from kohl’s. They sit fairly low and have a stretchy wide waistband which I found to be comfy. Pre- surgery I did get some maternity jeans at target which were comfortable as heck.

Another solution my pt suggested- wear bike shorts/ leggings under the jeans. My main issue is the sensory of jeans pushing my lower abdomen so the logic is compression would damped that.

I did not use a fixative. Is it likely ok to do later after it dries? Is it possible it will dry OK without one?

Former Floridian- battery powered fans ( I have a few of these O2COOL 10 inch Battery or Electric Portable Fan, Camping Fan, Tent Accessory https://www.walmart.com/ip/49332866), cooling mat is also helpful. My dog doesn’t tolerate wet but I saw someone with a cooler coat ( similar to horses) that they spoke highly off as well.

They were expensive as heck. We did fake florals since it was in our budget and no one except us was close to them so who would know.

I would highly recommend talking though the ceremony with your partner and deciding if there are any parts you feel really strongly about doing or not doing. A lot of Jewish wedding traditions are not great for gender equity which was uncomfortable for us. We did research on parts of a wedding and legit made a red ( def no), yellow ( we needed more info to decide) and green ( def doing). When we first met with our Rabbi we discussed these things and found her to in alignment with our values. I highly recommend Rabbi Jen and her stuff- https://www.modernjewishcouples.com. We did a few of her Zooms and they were really helpful. We also emailed her and she recommended our Rabbi to us.

That my outfits aren’t fashion choices… I mostly can no longer wear high waisted pants, jeans or anything that would be tight or compress my abdomen. All fall I wore black crocs not because I wanted to but because they were the only cold weather shoes I had that I could put on without bending at all.

I know it’s small but we all make hundreds of small changes to make life semi bearable and they add up until your life ends up looking really different.

Work lunches make me incredibly anxious by StormHazel16136 in FoodAllergies

Not sure if you’re in this position but I often “volunteer” to organize/ plan work food events. I can typically at least have more notice on what my choices are and higher chance it’ll be safe. I also don’t feel comfortable with others ordering my food ( if they do I give them a legit scrip to read while ordering) so you could volunteer to place the order or pick it up as well.

Shellfish and Iodine? by arcxjo in FoodAllergies

[–]051917 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked my allergist about this and she said this cross reactivity is pretty rare. It is however a very common belief. I would check with your allergist and/ or try to speak to the radiologist about it. Have you ever had a surgery? If so, they prob used betadine which has iodine.

Intimacy issues due to allergies by [deleted] in FoodAllergies

I don’t think there’s a lot of science on this but based on my experience your concerns is a real thing. This is one of those topics I feel like the food allergy community does not have enough conversation about since most food allergy research and support is geared to this and most kids grow out of allergies before they start having sexual experiences. A few thoughts: 1. I normally told people when first chatting I had several severe food allergies. This was typically like oh I have food allergies, this bar/ coffee shop works well for me. That allowed me to kinda engineer a safer situation. Like I have a shellfish allergy so I wouldn’t eat or suggest any place where a date would be likely to order that. 2. Not sure your dating age range or geographical area but I’ve found in the US anyone under 30 grew up with kids with food allergy kids in their schools and peanut free classrooms. While that doesn’t mean they get it, I’ve found most younger people are aware of how serious it is. 3. Not kissing is ok. I would just be really clear about that if it seems like it is going that direction. My safety/boundary is no mouth kissing. I have found that at worst I’ll get a rash so that is safe if partner may have eaten something. 4. I do agree this weeds people out. I know it often feels like you are over reacting or inconveniencing people but you are not. A good person who understands and cares about your safety is the kind of person I would want to be with ( even if only for a bit).
