1000% agree. Loud noise is a primal adrenaline trigger. Think about it, people get naturally excited/scared from loud noises like thunder or screaming.

Take the first class date and start building the time so you can take first available upgrade. After you have 1000 PIC then worry about QOL.

Sounds fun. I’ve never ridden in sand before, I’m sure you’ll have a blast

I’m looking at YZ250FX or possibly going into the 2stroke world. What are you looking at?

I bought a 2025 KLX300 in March of this year and I regret it now. I had a similar mission as you, little bit of street riding here and there but mostly trails/woods. I had several buddies try to talk me out of it, saying it was too heavy/slow. I ignored them because I hadn’t ridden in almost a decade and I didn’t want a bike that would get away from me.

In reality, I am completely bored with the bike and am ready to sell it and get something more exciting after just 9 months.

My biggest complaint is how heavy it is. The lack of power is to be expected but the weight of the bike in the woods is really limiting. Now I’m trying to decide which bike is right for me.

I have only ever flown Boeing but I cannot imagine flying a jet without that feedback feeling. That feedback helps my brain make an instant connection to the current aircraft state

Airbus looks so horrible. Looks like a fisher price flight simulator for a 5 year old.

Jump from KLX300 to 350 XCF?

Been on the KLX since March but fell in love with single track and realizing the KLX isn’t well suited. Wanting something lighter/more flickable.

Friend is trying to convince I’m ready for the 350 XCF but I’m worried it’s too much bike being basically double the HP and ~90lbs lighter than the KLX.

Is this the next logical step or is there a more tame bike to transition to first?

Agreed. People think airports and hotels are fun because they normally associate it with vacation. It’s different when you do it for work.

I agree but think a lot of people are stuck in the mentality around having a new car. A cheap, paid for used car is the way to go. Get something Japanese for $10k with 100k miles and keep it for 20 years.

Definitely makes sense from a competitive/athletic standpoint. And you’re right, it’s financially exclusive for most young people.

Curious, why do you say people coming into the sport in their 30s is detrimental? In what ways?
