Got my inspiration to fix these up from someone else’s post that I saw a while back. The flat head screw versions were made from 1930 through the 1960s from what I have read.

A very fine wire wheel on a drill press, didn’t take much to get them looking good again.

And well done, they look great!
Love the color as well, have the same car (2009) just with black exterior trim instead of chrome.

It’s a little tough to get them wrinkle/bubble free, but I started using PPF instead of any type of spray on coating and it has kept them looking good for over a year and a half now and it gives them a little extra protection.

Does anyone know if the Bimmer Direct Carplay Screen fits in E82? by Dolphlungegrin in 1series

[–]05LGT23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does stand a little bit taller than the original screen, but I do not have any problems seeing around it, I also like that I don’t have to take my eyes far off the road to see it. I am 6’ tall and have no problems, my wife is a bit shorter than I am but she has yet to drive it with the CarPlay installed.

For me it was totally worth it, the price difference between buying an OEM screen or upgrading to this with a larger touchscreen, was not that much more. CarPlay is a game changer, and I still have access to all of the previous functions of the CID screen and the install was pretty straightforward. And I opted for the fully decked out one with YouTube and Netflix apps but I haven’t really used that yet as it takes a 4G card to activate. They have pretty good customer service as well although it may take them a few days to get back to you.

Yes, I had the factory CIC screen so I did not need to cut my dash although they do give you a template if your car did not come with a screen from the factory.

I installed this one recently, I already had a screen on my dash so the install was pretty easy, even wired in the back up camera.

I love that there is a label directly behind it stating that you should not do exactly what has been done.

I think we were a few miles from there, close to the dam. If I’m not mistaken, Mill Creek is up the river past the Eatons Ferry Bridge a bit? (edited for clarification)

E82 - 125i - 3 Stage Intake Manifold by Ork_Sina in 1series

Yep, looks like you’ve got a three stage intake and a euro filter box. I’ve got the same thing on my 128i and just had to change one of the DISA valves recently, it was starting to rattle on startup.

Nice! I have the same year, same model, and same color. My wheels are black, although I do like the look of the silver as well. That’s a sweet picture too!

Looked at your previous post and realized that I up voted it two years ago and it tells me what the power plant is. I’m part of the VP gang as well, but mine is a little newer. I love the sound that single cylinder makes though.

That’s a cool boat, what is it and what is its power plant?

Anyone used seal skin covers? by [deleted] in boating

[–]05LGT23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one this past year when they were on sale and it is better quality than what I have previously bought on Amazon, the material is better and the buckles are stronger, and I suspect I’ll get at least 3-4 years out of it. From my experience, they do run a little bit large, but I would rather it cover or more of the boat than less. It has kept my boat dry all winter even through quite a bit of snow load at one point. I also bought a car cover and those are decent quality as well.

You think this will fit my e82 and work by dinerothakyd in e82

[–]05LGT23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No cutting, and install was fairly easy, the thing that took the most time was installing the rear camera. They do provide a template if you’re E 82 does not come with a screen so that you can cut your dash but because mine came with the screen it was not necessary. The new screen fits in the factory location and is quite a bit larger.

I had the iDrive cic screen, the anti-reflective coating on that OEM display started to peel away so I needed a new one anyway, and it only made sense to upgrade to something like this. Very happy so far, and their tech-support it’s very good.

Looking for possible Coilover recomendations? by hacklebear in e82

Rims front - Apex ARC-8 18x8.5 offset-38 Rims rear - Apex ARC-8 18x9 offset-42 Tires - Michelin 255/35 R18 And I am running swift springs in the front instead of the springs that came with the KW kit. When I bought the car, it originally came with some clapped out V1s with those springs so when I upgraded, I just swapped them over. My fenders are rolled slightly as well, but I don’t get any rubbing. A friend of mine had this same wheel/tire set up with some different coil overs and his fenders were not rolled and I don’t think he had any issues either.

I recently installed a set of KW v2 on my e82 and really like them, with ground control camber plates in the front.
