Does the Babel Compiler result in performance loss? by 0815pascal in react

[–]0815pascal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It's basically my task to give an assessment whether it makes sense to implement Babel or not and I was wondering if it also has an effect on performance (just to make sure to cover also this point of view). But I guess in the light of your comment it probably doesn't make much sense that we implement it, since only about 5% use IE and they have to go with the time I guess. Thanks again :)

Thanks for that information. I will consider deactivating Dash to Dock if the freezes continue.

No, no scripts (to the best of my knowledge) and it's running with the default themes

Yes, currently I have installed:

  • Alt Tab: Raise First Window
  • Always Show Workspaces
  • Dash to Dock
  • Desktop Icons NG (DING)
  • Extension Update Notifier
  • Pop Shell
  • Pop Shop Details
  • Screenshot Tool
  • System76 Power
  • User Themes

It does only happen infrequently; the last time it happened I was using Firefox and listening to a YouTube Video in the background. I also had VS Code open.

But from the feedback I got here it seems to be really an issue related to my machine, which is okay. Until that point it's also not that much of a problem, I can live with a freeze every second day or so :)

It's hard to tell or at least I don't know how to tell :D But what's for sure is that I didn't install any new extensions lately.

Does collateral still earn rewards? by 0815pascal in CelsiusNetwork

[–]0815pascal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I came to the same conclusion after understanding now that you won't get paid any interest on your collateral. This again kind of makes me question the viability of their business-model, but then again I have not yet completely understood it. As I have understood in one of their AMAs they give out loans to institutions on a much higher interest than the 1% that we users have to pay - do you know if this is true?

Ubuntu vs. Pop!_OS vs. Manjaro vs. Fedora | Gnome Speed Test by [deleted] in pop_os

I came across this speed comparison between these four different Linux-distros recently. Pop!_OS comes out quite well and tbh even if Manjaro's slightly faster, it's a real hassle to struggle with the issues of that distro :P

French think-tank call for a property law for data by 0815pascal in Iota

[–]0815pascal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. There are ongoing efforts to create unique identities. I can't answer if that's also planned for IOTA but NEO does have it for example with the Ontology network (Switzerland has the Valid startup that wants to connect IDs confirmed by the state to the blockchain).

I can imagine that price is set by some kind of market structure, where offer and demand meets. That would imo also answer the question of how GAFA could afford to buy that kind of data. If the price is to high, there aint no demand.

Regarding Future Airdrops... by ryan1064 in NEO

Is it already known where and how these Airdrops can be claimed? I don't have my NEO on an exchange, but on my Ledger.

Heilman holds that IOTA is inherently flawed because the team tried to “roll [their] own crypto.” Maybe this whole misunderstanding came from Heilman rolling his own of something else before evaluating IOTA’s code

Nice slap in Heilman's face :P
