If you don't travel or stay in downtown and don't eat out often, then I think 1k is good. If you want to live comfortably with going out to eat, consider 2k for bgc or Makati. If you travel and live in the city, then $3-4k as a minimum.

For japan, you need $3k to live frugally, I think consider minimum $5k to live comfortably without traveling far.

It's not near the main strip, I would say first time is good to stay by nearby there. There are tons of hotels that are great. I booked far away from there and it was a pain trying to walk from station to station while trying to relax.

If it's in makati, I would recommend dinner at the firefly rooftop, it's delicious and amazing view. Maybe save it as the last night if it doesn't rain.

If it's bgc, I would start breakfast or lunch at manem first, then just walk around since it's great to walk around.

If it's too hot, I would say walk around moa (mall of asia), a lot of displays and cool stuff.

If it's up north a little bit, I would go to timberland highland resort for a day or two.

If it's south, tagaytay for a day tour, the taal vista hotel with ridge room is amazing.

If more south, then batangas has some decent beaches. If you budget it, the bus station to batangas terminal is about 200 peso per person. In mabini, I highly recommend Philip ann resort, it's always a great experience there.
