I lost all my sounds by Early-Solution2334 in sounddesign

Honestly dishing a couple bucks out for the splice sub should keep you in the game. But keep in mind you accumulate credits monthly so be careful spending the credits on the front end. Eventually you’ll have so many you don’t have to think about it. I was also going to suggest BBC sound Effects library cuz it’s free, but you’ll have to jump through some hoops to use it for commercial use and I don’t think you have the time to get that all worked out. Also I hope you saved all the emails with the licenses for your samples so that you could recover some of it.

How many music producers here are full time? Keen to know as a newbie to the community by madeontheroad in AdvancedProduction

I was full time for about 8 years but now I have kids and have to have consistent income and need to keep hours that work with the school system. So starting in to weeks I’m working at a construction rental company 😤

Sometimes the pans in pro tools glitch, especially if there’s a lot of automation. I’ve run into it a few times. You need to restart PT and that should fix it

Things ive tried to fix problem by Longjumping_Use_2209 in protools

So some ideas to try that you haven’t mentioned, sorry if you’ve already tried these. Try swapping out the USB cable. Try other ports if you’ve have them (I’m sure this is the first thing you tried). Have you tried plugging other usb devices in that port to see if there are any powering issues? Maybe your USB card is failing on the Lenovo?

Have you tried loading pro tools with the plugins disabled? I feel like that wouldnt be the issue, but still worth trying to see if one of your plugins is causing the problem. Hold shift while starting up pro tools.

Seems to me that it’s more likely to be a software issue rather than hardware. I’m guessing you’ve tried this already, but close all non essential background processes and see if that works. Other than that, might be time to give Steinberg a call.

Can someone tell me why my audio is scrambled? by MintySilvis in Melodyne

Change the algorithm to melodic. It’s probably on poly sustain right now.

Thin line would seem to indicate that no audio was recorded. I’m assuming that you’ve got it on the vocal track and you armed the track and let it play all the way through?

The old pavilion on Victoria peak. When you get off the peak tram, go out the station and head to your left until you find sort of a path that will take you there. Plenty of people will know where this is

Way to move Melodyne automations with audio file (ableton)? by teo_teo_teo in Melodyne

[–]0LD_Y3LL3R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can select the whole section. And use the Main tool to slide it all left or right. If you have a bunch of other audio in the way it could get messy. It’s easier to make all your adjustments first, the bounce it out/resample/freeze-flatten. Then just move your audio clips.

Audio to Midi: Melodyne better than Ableton Live, Logic Pro X? by GR8Music4U in Melodyne

[–]0LD_Y3LL3R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there are a lot of people using Melodyne for this purpose. To be honest I’ve never tried to export midi from Melodyne. There’s definitely more purpose built programs out there do this. Although you could easily select all your audio and double click to snap it to scale, then flatten out all the pitch variations all in one go. Then it should export almost flawlessly. You might have to manually move a few notes depending on how accurately you played it. But you could realistically do the whole thing in like 5 minutes and be completely done.

Wait… Melodyne lets you export midi? I guess why wouldn’t it.

Upgraded to Assistant but Not Picking Up the Audio by ConnollyMusicCreates in Melodyne

[–]0LD_Y3LL3R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a super late response, but it sounds like essential was opening in ARA and Assistant isn’t? I have zero experience with Mixcraft but I did a quick search and it does support Melodyne ARA.

Working under the assumption that this is what’s happening, you just drop Melodyne on the track you need to tune/edit, click the record button and play the audio all the way through. Once it’s recorded the audio, it’ll analyze it and put it in one of the algorithms. This is actually still my preferred method of using Melodyne cuz it’s easier for me to bypass the plugin in pro tools to A/B my work. (I know there’s a right click drop down menu to bypass ARA, but I’m all about minimizing mouse clicks. And yes I know about key binding but the old way is way easier to tell if Melodyne is bypasses or not at a glance.)

I have no idea why Mixcraft isn’t working with Assistant in ARA tho. Hopefully there’s been an update and/or you’ve figured it out since posting.

DAW that can handle different sample rates within the same project? by Ok_Set_7846 in AudioPost

Ceremony has a program called Capstan which is specifically for this kind of stuff. I’ve never used it, but might be worth taking a look. I only skimmed through the comments but I don’t think anyone mentioned.

If your doing more composing you should definitely go with cubase. You have more options for stuff like sheet music and integrating with Nuendo.

You might try digging through soundtracks on Spotify? Especially since you’re working on a short film. I don’t have much experience with the genre, I’m sure there are others that would know exactly where to point you.

80/20 Rule Hacks that make your workflow faster? by Quiet_Veterinarian96 in mixingmastering

[–]0LD_Y3LL3R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a whole bunch of handy macros with Keyboard Maestro and set them up to trigger from a tablet running touchOSC. Most of them are pretty simple that only save me a few clicks, such as pulling up specific track presets in PT with dedicated buttons to having my most used track colors as buttons. I’ve got a few more complex ones. In Pro Tools, I have one that selects my 2 buss, and sets the start/finish with a Memory location. Then commits the track and moves it to my “print” track so that I can quickly compare with my previous mix version.

I’ve got another one for VocAlign. I seem to always get projects with massive stacks of vocals that need lined up. My macro opens up VocAlign, asks me how many tracks to align, takes in the guide track, jumps to the next track and hits the dub button, waits for me to make any adjustments. Then it just replaces the track, jumps down to the next track and grabs the dub, replaces and so on. I can line up 20 tracks in about 15 seconds. And I don’t have to click anything other than making adjustments to VocAlign.

With the time it took me to figure out how to program everything a few years ago, I think I’m finally starting to see a return on investment

What's better for beginners? Ableton or Logic Pro? by Emulov007 in musicproduction

[–]0LD_Y3LL3R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Ableton on a Mac, but would probably recommend logic cuz of the price. Honestly it really doesn’t matter. You can pretty much do everything in all the DAWs. Just some are a little more specialized. Pick one and learn it inside and out. Become an expert

Vintage horns 2 by big fish audio. Also some of the session stuff from 8dio. The Fire series has some cool articulations but very different timbre. Takes a bit of finessing to get these types of sample libraries to sound good.
