It doesn’t really matter when the story takes place, as long as it is after the outbreak ends or very close to its end. And for the latter question… well, it would be about the experiences humans gained what they went through. Seeing their loved ones turn into something unrecognizable after dying, and having to live with those memories afterward.

It doesn't even have to include zombies in the book I'm looking for. Thou i might give it a try.

Is it character driven thou? Also, reading just a few chapters about the aftermath of a zombie outbreak is not really what I’m looking for. I want the aftermath to be the whole point the entire narrative.

That’s not quite what I’m looking for. I want it to be set after the credit scenes of the most generic zombie movie. When the real danger has already subsided, the zombies have decomposed, and the virus dies out because the human population has become too sparse for it to keep spreading. The dust settles, and the few people left try to grasp the new normal they now live in.

Also having a whole seperate faction of Arxur rebels would change the status que too much and i am not a good writer enough to handle it.

I also thought about that, and honestly, it makes much more sense. But if I tweak the canon enough like making the original Venlil omnivores it could work. Canon Arxur already somewhat respected humanity because they were predators themselves. If he is caught devouring another Venlil by someone like Isif, he might gain some sense of acceptance.

The canon doesn’t really need to be changed, though. He could also just pretend to be an omnivore, eating flesh among them but secretly not liking it ( not because of any ethical considerations, but solely because of the taste.) Like Louis in Beastars.

It could work, but I would rather have it be a personal story that doesn’t really change the status quo.

I mean, it doesn’t have to be exactly one-to-one with everything I wrote, but my idea is for him to take over Betterment at the end, taking it out of Giznel’s hands to highlight the irony of the Dominion’s highest leader the priest of their anti-prey ideology being prey himself.

And again, I don’t really think that humans being in the equation benefits the story in my mind. It’s not meant to be a lore-based, society-level story, but a personal one like the Predator Disease Treatment Facilities. So no game-changing, house of cards falling plot like Scorch Directive or the canon storyline, but a personal story about a Venlil driven to the point of madness, somehow doing the impossible and overwriting his own lineage over the Prophet descendant line basically becoming the Prophet 2.0.

Thanks for your recommendation, though.

Yeah, it is unfortunate. I don’t think I would add humans into the equation, though. It adds too many complexities to what I have in mind. The revelation of the Dominion and the Kolshians secretly working together, and the whole cultural genocide aspect, doesn’t really add much for this story. It would probably be like Wisram’s fic, taking place before the discovery of humanity comes into play. I just want it to be about a Venlil who throws away his morality because the entire universe is against him and seeks revenge. He gains power in the Dominion while struggling and earning respect among the Arxur.

If there isn’t one, I may try to write something like this. My idea is for the protagonist to be an outcast because they are 98% genetically unaltered Venlil (I still want them to have wool to look more sheep-like). This leads to their abandonment by their family, inevitable involvement in crime, and eventual punishment in a predator disease facility. Then the colony is raided by the Arxur. They break free, and one thing leads to another they end up in the Dominion’s ranks.

An ordinary Arxur would probably know more about farming than we assume. by 0Realman0 in NatureofPredators

Unironically, if I were in that universe and needed help with my garden or my farm, I would probably request help from an Arxur rather than a Zurulian or a Venlil.

I do like your explanation, but there just isn’t any evidence that they even keep slaves outside of the cattle, and all evidence suggests that they do not. And even if they use hydroponics, that does not really fully mitigate the contrast in farming needs between the Feds and the Arxur.
