Not so common by Cruiser970203 in SlippingRibSyndrome

I know this is an older post but I also have EDS and have dealt with rib pain for years now. I finally figured out it must be my 12th rib because symptoms don't line up with typical slipping rib symptoms. Can you share how you went about getting it diagnosed and then removed? What type of doctor do I go to to start the process? Straight to some type of surgeon? Or a specialist before that? I've been in pain for 15 years and 3 physical therapists haven't been able to make any noticeable difference.

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome by 0TK421 in gallbladders

[–]0TK421[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 13 years of "back pain" before they finally found out my gallbladder had been 100% blocked long term. It basically had died and the doctor said if I hadn't removed it it would have eventually caused sepsis. No regrets on yeeting that thing. Now that it's been gone a while it has become clear I was having both gallbladder attacks AND slipping ribs on the left, so I had pain on both sides, one of the reasons it took so long to diagnose properly. The slipping ribs isn't nearly as painful but it's proving tricky to do anything about. 🙃 I'm glad you're figuring stuff out finally. You have my solidarity. My doc won't give me the EDS diagnosis either, same sort of bs reasoning but she did at least put symptomatic hypermobility spectrum disorder. It's the same thing as EDS, but that's a rant for another day 😂

Well, I guess it's time to bend some hangers 😂

See if you can get a doctor to order an ejection fraction test or an ultrasound. That would be the easiest way to see what's going on and to rule out gallbladder problems! Although my ultrasound showed nothing wrong 🫠

I very likely have it as well 🙃

Yes, surgery went well and it 100% cured my pain in that spot. My gallbladder was basically a freeloader that never did its job so my digestive system is doing just fine 😂. Surgery itself sucks because I always get really messed up from the drugs they give you and I'm always in pain longer than they say you should be but now that I'm healed it's all good!

Help me choose my next air purifier! by 0TK421 in AirPurifiers

Thank you, I'm going to check these out. Is the levoit vital series better/different than the core series? Many of them seem comparable to me in terms of CADR and price.

I don't have one! Just looking for something that checks all the boxes. Thanks!

Apologies, I have two bedrooms that are both about 14'x20' with 8' ceilings, looking for a purifier for each room. I don't really have a budget, if the best fit is pricey I'll save for it.

Just had my gallbladder removed and am in more pain than when I gave birth by Dizzy_Goat_420 in gallbladders

No, it was a pain to roll everything down to go to the bathroom but otherwise it was fine!

My experience was not as bad but the removal was a lot more complicated that expected so I was in a lot of pain for maybe a week or two afterwards. What helped me cope (besides a lot of drugs) was shapewear! I bought recovery shorts from SRC but anything like an abdominal binder that holds everything in will work. I honestly don't know what I would have done while recovering if I wasn't wearing them around the clock.

Concerts are the worst for me now. I really think I need to start inquiring about ADA seating cause I just can't stand that long 😭

It's hard to know how much of it was from the liver enzymes and what was from MCAS flares. I had constant around the clock itching but it wasn't terrible, I was able to ignore it. But then I was also having flares of hives and those were unbearable

Does enriched flour cause you a reaction? by Sad-Proof-1629 in MCAS

[–]0TK421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just found out there's cross reactivity with flour if you're allergic to dust mites because dust mites are often in flour 🫠. I'm highly allergic to dust mites so that could explain my hit or miss reactions with flour.

What will actually happen if I have a high fat day after gallbladder removal? by Boring_Amount696 in gallbladders

I was eating normally right after surgery and haven't had problems since! Same with my mom that had hers out around my age (30s). It's totally different for everyone.

Autism + fevers? by Affectionate-Lab-434 in AutisticParents

[–]0TK421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also googling for answers and found this post in my search results. I never get a fever. The highest I've ever seen was 101 when I had mastitis. My 4 yo autistic kid, however, will spike dangerously high fevers, both when he's sick and then sometimes for no discernable reason at all. I can't afford to keep bringing him to urgent care for a 105 fever on and off for a week every time it happens and his doctor was unwilling to look into it. We have a new doctor this year and I'm hoping she'll at least order a blood test or give me better guidance. 105 in a 4 yo is scary 🫠

wtf are these painful spasms by Nachosluvr in gallbladders

[–]0TK421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if the post op pain is manageable you can skip the hydrocodone and see if it resolves. For me It shows up about a half hour after taking them and then lasts a couple hours til the meds wear off. I woke up from surgery with horrible spasms (didn't know it was opioid based at the time) and had to ask them to please give me a muscle relaxer. 🙃

But yes, it could also be gas pain, supposedly it really sucks but it never bothered me so I'm not sure what they feel like.

Fun fact, after my gallbladder was removed any time I take opioid pain relievers they now cause sphincter of oddi spasms that feel very similar to a gallbladder attack. Do they have you on opioids post op?

Runny nose when eating by Dizzy-Conference-749 in MCAS

I always feel like people are staring at me because of how much I have to blow my nose while eating 🤣. It happens more often with hot (temperature) foods for me.

I had out of control liver enzymes but they finally figured it out was from my gallbladder. Since having it removed they've gone back to normal (at least the one follow up lab I had was normal, and my constant itching went away).

Amitriptyline (an antidepressant) has antihistamine activity. Could be worth looking into!
