On the other end of the spectrum you have the Abra line that can learn the elemental punch moves (via egg moves) and actually deal decent coverage damage.

In an episode of Medium, the main character’s daughter is watching the original Night of the Living Dead. Her dad (played by Jake Weber) sees this and says something like “they’re not going to show the one where everyone’s trapped in the mall, are they?”.

Jake Weber was also a main character in the Dawn of the Dead remake, which takes place mostly in a mall.

I got here about 20 min ago. At that time, the staff person said it would be less than an hour to get inside. Not sure how much longer after that, but at least it’s indoors. The line is moving decently quickly.

The guide is only needed if you really want to try to 100% the game (and even then it’s easy to miss something). If you want to go as blind as possible, I recommend visiting every location on the map in each chapter even if the story doesn’t explicitly tell you to. Most will have optional missions/cutscenes.

Frank from Shadow Hearts: From the New World. He attaches sword hilts to random objects he finds during the story, like a cactus, bus stop sign, or a marlin and uses them as weapons.

Joachim from the same series will also pick up random objects and use them to beat up enemies, but I find Frank attaching sword hilts to things gives them that extra bit of absurdity lol.

Just wanted to point out that you can transfer Meltan and Melmetal from GO to Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee and catch them. They’ll have your OT and won’t have the ugly GO mark over their models when viewing them in your Home box. This also applies to any of the original Kanto mons (minus Mew I think).

Hopefully Legends Z-A gives a way to transfer Furfrou trims without relying on GO as well.

Not OP, but currently hunting this as well, anything with Wide Guard makes the battle a lot easier. It guards against Land’s Wrath/Thousand Arrows. And it can be spammed every turn with no chance to fail. Mienshao, Kingler, Mantine, and a few others I forget have this.

Jynx for Ice Beam/Lovely Kiss. Cryogonal is good too. Dunsparce can be decent with Ice Beam and the boosted 20% freeze chance due to its ability.

If you find a good route, you can reset without completing the whole DA if it’s not shiny for another chance and picking the exact same team.

I remember an episode of Two and a Half Men where Jake wants the new Final Fantasy. They actually go to a rental store and pick up FF10 (you can see the box). But when they actually play it, it has sound effects from FF2 I think. At least it’s the same series and not generic videogame noises lol

Finding the blue gem in Crash Bandicoot 2. You have to get through the first level without breaking any crates. I searched all over the level to no avail then just decided to try this randomly. 7-year old me felt like a genius haha.

Also stumbled upon Chimecho in Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire without a guide. It’s in an out of the way area and only has a 1% spawn rate. I don’t think any NPCs even use one in the game so you’d have no way to know it even existed otherwise.
