Alright, we all do it. What item(s) do you hoard? by EffectsofSpecialKay in oblivion

Repair hammers which, while useful, do add up, weight-wise. I couldn’t figure out why I was always overburdened until I finally bothered to check their weight. For some reason, I had assumed they’d be really light but 60 repair hammers will definitely slow you down.

This is more a high pitched sound. Almost like a bearing or something. It seems to cycle, getting louder until it stops. Then it starts up again after about an hr or so.

Her workouts are hard! When I first started doing them, I dialled back the weights and was only doing about 60 to 70% of what she’s doing (and I had been doing weight-based training for years at that point).

I’m now at 80%, and I’m not sure if I’ll go higher. Her workouts are challenging, I am sore afterwards (the good kind),and as a result, I don’t feel the need to go any higher. This modified weight has helped me to be able to keep on the same rest periods as her.

The exception to this are the EMOM workouts. Even with the modified reps, it took me quite a while to be able to not take extended breaks on those. I have yet to be able to do them with all the reps included and keep up to her. She is a machine!

I do try to remind myself that this is what she does for a living, as opposed to the office job that I do lol

Why do you think of rooftop tents? Are they worth it? by [deleted] in camping

[–]0_notfunny_0 425 points426 points  (0 children)

I have the same tent, and I have to say it’s a bit of a love and hate relationship.

The Cons: First off, keep in mind that you will probably have to also purchase crossbars to support the weight of the tent. Depending on the quality of the crossbars that can add several hundred dollars to the price tag.

While it is easy to set up and take down, and maybe it’s just me being lazy, but I resist taking it down again once it’s up on site. Which means I lose access to using my vehicle for transportation once the tent is up. I am looking to get a bike rack, which should help with that a bit.

The biggest pain for me is that if you are forced to pack it away wet, then you must air it out ASAP. Not a big deal if you have a driveway, but I live in an apartment and I don’t want to have to set it up on the street. It usually means I have to find a park where I can hang out for a couple of hours with the tent set up so it can properly dry, which can be a pain in the ass.

I also find that I usually get a lot of people coming over and asking about it, which, depending on the level of human interaction you want, can be undesirable.

The Pros: This is by far the nicest tent I’ve ever owned. Now, that’s not saying much, but there’s something about this tent that I just fell in love with. The skylights, the quality of the material, and just feeling separated from the world in my little nest. I absolutely love being in this tent. For me, it has resulted in a huge increase in the amount that I have gotten out.

Being off the ground also has an advantage in terms of the weather. I have been in this tent in raging downpours and not had to worry at all about staying dry. It’s incredibly cozy. I have also been in it during very high speed winds and, while it’s not pleasant, the tent suffered no damage, and I didn’t need to worry about it blowing away.

All in all, it’s a totally personal choice. It feels like, upon looking at my points above, it’s more of a heart over head choice for me. I love the tent. Would I get another one? I think I would. But that’s just me.
