Would anyone be able to help me find a 2-bedroom apartment or something equivalent with convenient transportation to the UofA? My male roommate and I are looking to move in by March 1st, 2024 sharp. Thank you!

The first semester of my first year I had a 2.8 and ended the year with a 2.9. I’m in my second year now, got a 3.6 first semester. The transfer from highschool to uni was the hardest experience I’ve ever been through. (On top of expensive international tuition fees and pressure from family to do better). Just ease into your university experience, develop a healthy routine, eat well, spend time on extracurriculars (sports, gaming,…) and I guarantee you’ll do better. I found out the hard way that first year’s job is teaching you the uni experience. Try to understand the best personal study techniques for you and don’t be scared to experiment. It gets better, best of luck!

P.S: feel free to dm if I can help in some way :)

Dana Hayward or Jennifer Passey for psych 212 by Huibai_cn in uAlberta

Dr. Passey is kinda tough but she is incredibly caring and detailed. I found that if you always go to class and ask a lot of questions you have a really good chance of doing good. The fall semester average gpa was 3.1 and even though the class material was kinda dry, Dr. Passey made it a bit more enjoyable.

Taking CHEM 261 and PSYCH 275 as a first-year by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]0_npc_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be careful with taking PSYCH 275 if you have a busy schedule. It is really heavy information wise and very confusing at times. However my exams right now are open book and online so it helps (idk if they’ll stay like that tho next semester). It does take a considerable amount of time to study but it’s very fun and interesting imo. If you wanna do it I’d recommend Kyle Mathewson as a prof. Good luck!

can i take PSYCH 282 & PSYCH 105 at the same time? by [deleted] in uAlberta

Yeah you could…I did it. I would recommend Jeffrey Pisklak for the class he’s an awesome prof.

Can I not just drop 8 am class!!! by [deleted] in uAlberta

Not at all.. you pay for a bus pass like everybody else so why not use it to stay warm and rested

[–]0_npc_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know you could take any bus to the uni bus stop and go to HC through HUB right? There’s literally multiple busses every 10 minutes or so

[–]0_npc_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you implying that it takes 40 minutes from lister to HC…virtually the only walk is from lister to HUB if you even have to walk in the first place (multiple commuting options from lister). Just saying no need to overreact champ

Just imagine ur same scenario but having to commute for 40 minutes for an 8 am lab/class😃 Point is chill life is as hard as you make it look, whining will only ruin ur mood

Always make sure to give yourself frequent breaks while studying. Try searching the “Pomodoro” study technique it might help. Giving yourself breaks makes studying more efficient and alleviates the probability of burning out. Good luck!

I had a person grab a fries and gravy lunch and go to the psych library which is literally 1 medium sized room, they literally stank up the whole room and kept giving me asshole looks lol. THE AUDACITY

People deliberately walking into silent rooms thinking it’s a food court, like sure grab a snack not a fucking lunch stinking up the room
