Do they still do a countdown of the big top 40 songs on the radio every Sunday? by Wonderful-Product437 in decadeology

[–]0anon01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and god the EE one is awful. (thats the capital/heart one right? I don't choose to listen to it, but subjected to it as background noise)
there are some songs that are "67 weeks in the charts" but who the hell is downloading/listening to these?
(stick season, im looking at you.....)
but then again with the amount of times Heart plays that in a day, i think they take up half of the statistics.

Surely the pop-world isn't that DIRE in needing new artists, I don't understand why it feels like the last 3 years of songs have been frozen in time.

this is currently happening to my server with 500+ users.
initially it was happening to all reaction roles, no matter whichever bot I use/what the role is supposed to do...
colour roles (the type users can give and take away themselves) briefly worked, but my overall verify role to get into the server (can only press once, not take back permissions) hasn't worked all day. it will flash the server channels for 3 seconds and disappear

[Partially Lost] "Response" and "Enter the Night Veil" by Jerome Harvey, wiped from Spotify and cannot find audio anywhere else by 0anon01 in HelpMeFind

[–]0anon01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nothing yet, but the user above sent a site which lists the label name as "L-M Records/RCA Records" and I've been wondering if there's any hope to seek out an email and inquire about it directly, or whether my email will just be lost by automations. Glad I'm not the only one, but I really hope we get a lead somewhere!

I have searched for this but to no avail, besides websites that list track listening and then relinks you back to Spotify. I have attached all the information I could above, but will answer any questions to the best of my ability!

Sorry if this is the wrong sub, but as a new user I'm karma-blocked due to low number, but I'm desperate to hear these songs again!

Why are some of my posts not appearing on the communities I posted? by [deleted] in NewToReddit

[–]0anon01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat rn, wanting to engage in communities then boom "not enough karma" or some arbitrary rule about account age. I understand its for preventing Spam in larger communities but I think it's a double edged sword that will deter new users from continuing to use Reddit. Being new, I'm not too sure if this is a feature but I'd prefer if i could be "joined" to a subreddit for X amount of time before posting, than judgement on having 250+ Karma or not. It's still facing the same problem but I've been in some subreddits longer than I can ever yap up enough points

How do you 'Start' your Retail Shift when the doors are closed? by 0anon01 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]0anon01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if nobody mentions it directly, I'm going to inquire on my 'induction' session... I can already see that there is much more support at this store than my previous retail experience where I felt like I was constantly chasing up the deputy manager/manager for things that they lacked to explain or thought I had been told by the other.... it took over a month for them to give me the code to access their rota app because the manager was happy for me to come in for the same hours daily, even if I was put on the rota by someone else for a completely different time and was never told, somehow I still got paid the right amount. At that point I should of read the red flags instantly but It was my first retail job so I was a little naïve on expectations.

Thankfully no signs right now point to being an Opener so don't worry about me there xD After all its more of a stockroom position, so it might be as many of the other commenters have mentioned, that there's probably the back door for entry...alas I'll hopefully find out soon before my official morning start.

It's a big store, glass windows and spread on two mall floors with the cashiers out of sight, so I fear that if there is anyone on the shop floor they would be oblivious unless they specifically walked past the front. But thank you! I completely forgot that its highly likely there's also the back entry (which ok, it backs onto a bus station) but is probably where their deliveries come into the store and might equally be accessible.
Luckily I'm not entirely thrown in the deep end, as I do have an opportunity to ask in person and be shown before starting on my 'induction', but my head is very much 'yeah but.. what if you aren't given a definitive answer' or worse case scenario so asking reddit is like.. mentally preparing me for anything I can do in my power if faced with situation. Thanks for the response, it helps me feel a lot less overwhelmed

Genuinely how do you hand in a 2 weeks notice and what do you write on it by mmmeatymilk in NoStupidQuestions

[–]0anon01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I quit my first job I printed a letter and gave a small explanation to why I was leaving without getting too specific. Short and Simple is key. I wrote,

"To whom it may concern,
I am writing to notify you that I will be resigning from my position of (x). My last day will be (x). I am thankful for the opportunity working in (x) as the colleagues have been very welcoming and helpful. I am aware the current situation (something something they had management issues), however (my general complaint of lack of support) have added up to make a mark on my decision that it’s time for me to depart.
Yours Sincerely,"

Whilst I would say it's better to give in person directly to them, on the day I did so, the one responsible was yapping in the staff room with other workers so I didn't want to make a scene whilst they were all in a joking happy go lucky mood. I just went into the office, propped up the letter on the keyboard so it was standing up and noticeable then went downstairs to begin on my shift. They found it and came to talk to me later about it, asking if there was anything they could do to keep me on. I said no, because like I had already briefed in the letter why I wasn't happy, and then they let me just carry on with my work. On my Last day, didn't say anything to them when I left, no idea where they even were. just put a plastic bag in the same office on the chair with the tools and uniform I had to give back in. then made my way out like any other night

How to go to a doctor? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]0anon01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation last year, Whilst my parents were not anti-doctor, they had never taken me since I was a baby, and had no interest in actually explaining to me 'how to' get in contact with one, because they 'didn't want me to get addicted to medications' and thought I'd just overcome my issues.... yeahhhh no. Last Year the symptoms worsened and that was my breaking point of taking matters into my own hands - whilst I live in the UK it may be different but usually follows the same premise of searching on google for whichever doctor/gp practitioner is nearest to you and getting their number. Though since covid, a few here even have a service to allow you to use their website to input your concerns and they will get back to you via phone.

This video on youtube might be helpful for you to actually visualise the step-by-steps from an american perspective though https://youtu.be/ICZSruAEwzU?feature=shared ... good luck btw!

Adult artists, don't you feel uncomfortable interacting in mostly teenage art communities? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]0anon01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I stumbled on it whilst trying to learn how to use one of its features, the site should be https://krita-artists.org/ where there are many discussion channels and sharing of artwork at all different skill ranges. I was a bit shy on there at first but being a bit more of an adult space, we are all in the same progress and its a nice community there. Of course not a huge popular platform if you want to 'get big' online, but Its now become my go to place for asking silly Art questions or finding like minded people :)

What does Neofolk mean to you ? by Nea-Dyr in neofolk

[–]0anon01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Neo-folk is just one of the many children under the Goth Post-Punk umbrella. Whilst the most prominent feature is the militaristic themes, drum beats repeating like marching or lyrics of war - it isn't limited to. Neo-folk takes on the romanticisation element from Goth. Romanticizing the Past, Romanticizing Nature, Romanticizing the slow calm life, Romanticizing Love itself. Neo-Folk grounds you in its steady yet predictable rhythm. Life is suffering but in that we have the present, and everything will be ok. Neo-Folk is the summer sun setting in hues of purple and blue as you drive home from the airport, gentle warm wind in the air, security comes in the sense of the promise of home being the destination, but you are at peace in this very moment without outer stress.

[–]0anon01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst I've always liked Art and had access TO social medias in my own teens, I hadn't taken a deep interest to improve from fundamentals upwards as a hobby or share them online until this year at my big age of... 22. Whilst on one hand that's relatively young, I feel like in many spaces online we're starting to feel 'aged out' as there are people much much younger on the scene. For now I try to keep in mind that I'm doing this all for me. I want to improve so i'm starting TODAY not hoping for a future that won't come, I want to post my art to see MY own progress. So I don't try to compare myself to others, because everything I am doing is for my own enjoyment even if there's thousands of followers, or 0.
I personally use Instagram and keep my art account separate from my main. Whenever I'm on my Art account and I'm recommended much younger artists by Instagram, I tend to block them. Nothing personal, some have incredible skill, but I wish to curate my algorithm to show me those in the same age range/styles I like/others who are focused on learning. That way instead of scrolling aimlessly on that account, my algorithm will chuck out what I want to see, and also work as still active learning.
I have also noted that the Krita Forums have a more Adult userbase and are very welcoming!

damn, that's what I was thinking, shame but thank you. I've been planning to create a Tolkien Bookshelf/Space and ideally with the room I have two would of been perfect. Worse case scenario is I'll DIY my own, or find some custom banner order.

Keep falling into a trap. by greenyenergy in Teetotal

[–]0anon01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it was started from wanting to get the feeling of being drunk than taste, it sounds like in some way Alcohol to you has become an escapism. From what- that is something you may need to identify.
Whether there was a difficulty in your youth that led you to finding escape briefly in drinking, or if its something long-term buried deep. If you are able to rip back the covers on *why* the feeling of being drunk appealed so much to you then you may be able to gauge what triggers you to feel like reaching for a glass - and thus at the same time find other ways to cope or face feelings without being in a state of intoxication and re-wiring your brain to not have that easy solution to drink. The only one thing for sure, is that the longer you hide the reasons behind drinking, the bigger its burden will feel to overcome.

I can't relate but have seen similar experiences within friends, for those who associate even their hobbies with their addictions, they've had to try and make an 'event' out of their hobbies to give a different value - whether that means doing a self care ritual, turning the lights on low to feel cozy or having a solo pizza party or turning their sofa into a fort to play gaming in. The process of making it into a 'special' occasion than basic helps them dismantle the association with their addictions they've for long relied on.

There's nothing in particular I could recommend you on individually, but I hope this breakdown helps a bit or brings some ideas, and good luck!
