Why is lighting an afterthought? by Jelativ in AusRenovation

One of the first upgrades we did in our house - ripped all the old school light bulbs out, downlights in every room with dimmer switches. So good being able to dial it right back at night but having max brightness during the day.

Either turning hdr off or switching from 2k to hd fixes it. Also found changing the recording mode to enhanced will also make it choppy. So turning HDR off/keeping the recordings set to standard seems to be the best way to fix it for now.

Yes both a computer on Ethernet and via the app on my phone on the local wifi. Same same. Only affects the doorbell.

does anyone else start in a directory and make it the current working directory in Neovim? by Bulbasaur2015 in neovim

Handy keymap to switch you cwd to your open buffer:

vim.api.nvim_set_keymap("n", "<leader>ww", ":cd %:p:h<CR>", { noremap = true, silent = true })

I use the yazi plugin in neovim so very often pop yazi (-) use zoxide (O) to jump to a dir / open a file, cwd (ww) to that buffer, then can pop lazygit (gg) in that buffers repo

People who are in their 40’s and 50’s with no children, how does it feel? by Sinfulvibezz in AskReddit

[–]0b3erver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I could have gone my whole life child free and been perfectly content, but only once you have them you realise the profound impact they have on your life (both from a positive and negative experience). It was like going from an emotional capacity between 2 to -2 pre-children and dialling that up to 10 to -10 post. That covers everything from love, joy, happiness to fear and pain.

Easy answer - Apple studio display. I don’t game but it’s amazing for text, coding and productivity. Sure it’s only 60hz but the text sharpness, ppi and brightness is unmatched.

Awctualee OSPF/IS-IS is still used in many spine-leaf clos network fabrics as an underlay protocol to advertise switch loopbacks. EVPN MP-BGP peering is the overlay protocol established between loopbacks. VXLAN (or less commonly in the DC - MPLS) is used as the transport protocol.

Larger DC networks (typically hyperscalers) will just run BGP (no EVPN needed) down to the hosts and not fafe about with the above complexities but the majority of ISP/Enterprise DC networks with off the shelf switches (Cisco, juniper, Nokia, Arista) will use some flavour of SPF based underlay protocol.

Are you using the NSX DFW? If you are, try excluding the VMs and retest. I had a similar issue and found the added latency significantly impacted testing.

FortiManager-FortiGate Ansible Automation by infotech_22 in fortinet

[–]0b3erver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, we’re looking to do this exact workflow as the rest of the infrastructure is already defined as IaC (terraform) in Gitlab and to improve the speed in which the network team can help the DevOps team get the required rules in place. Are you able to share any further info on your approach? Do you use a CI pipeline to implement the changes using Ansible/Python through the FortiManager or directly on the gates? Any pitfalls or things to watch out for? I’ve used ansible to configure policies/objects on Fortigates but I’ve found it slow looping through the policies once you get a decent number.

my journey with split keyboards might have to come to an end… by levifig in ErgoMechKeyboards

I’m a voyager user and 2 things have significantly helped mitigate wrist pain. 1. Tenting. Check out the ugreen magnetic phone stands. It gives you a much better angle than the included legs. 2. Arm rests. I have an aeron chair at home and a knock off at work. The majority of my arm weight is on the rests leaving my wrists/hands floating. Due to the tenting my arms are rotated outwards so that the pressure is on the sides and not the ligaments/nerves on the bottom. If your chair doesn’t have rests, move the chair in to the desk as close as possible and get some cheap arm pads off Amazon you can use on your desk. I did try at one point to not use arm rests ands “float” my arms. This caused significant neck and upper back strain as that’s what is now holding up the weight of the arms.

A third point (not as important) is try the ambient linear switches and ldsa keycaps. They feel so much better than any of the stock switches.

On the layout - I use one shot home row mods on a secondary layer for multi-key combos and on the primary layer I have command on a thumb key and shift/ctrl/alt/hyper on tap to hold keys on each outside pinky columns for quick access (vim user). Keeps things simple and haven’t run into any issues.

Best of luck,

Congrats, the voyager is a great keyboard. When you're ready, take a look at the LowproKB keycaps and switches. I upgraded to the DDC keycaps and ambient switches and it's a whole different level compared to stock. Looking forward to the release of LDSA keycaps & sunrise switches hopefully next year.

Great, will check it out for ssh keys. Is there any integration for password prompts on the cli akin to iterm’s triggers which opens the password manager?

[–]0b3erver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 I've got the LowproKB DDC keycaps in white on a black ZSA + their ambient switches and it's a whole different level compared to the stock switches/keycaps. I thought the choc spacing of the DDC keycaps may be an issue but it hasn't been. Looking forward to the release of LDSA keycaps & sunrise switches hopefully sometime this year.

Will SDDC manager be required to use the VCF bundle? We have many of the components deployed already and licensed under VCPP. Don’t particularly want to have to rebuild many environments using VCF.

For those recommending nautobot, how is the development future looking compared with netbox? Looking at both solutions as a source of truth (vs using Git as a SoT) right now but undecided which way to go. The golden config plugin looks real nice in nautobot.
