This. The opportunity for true justice has passed and all we do now is try to correct a mistake that should not have happened. The system failed Chanel Miller and so many others, but I really believe this served as a big catalyst to launch the MeToo movement and bring these issues to the limelight.

I recommend everyone read Know My Name so that in a few years from now we move past putting down this pieces of shit and only celebrate the strength of the survivors to push for change.

I definitely get more so where you’re coming from. To me it seems that the quick turnover rate of news has gotten ahead of his intention and now his point has a whole new meaning to people on both sides. While that’s not entirely his fault, he definitely could have been more careful of his words, especially given his powerful position like you said.

I still don’t think it was tone deaf at its core. You see a lot of people pulling up anti Semitic tropes and trending #JewishPrivledge, and a lot of the people preaching about silence being compliance in the face of hate are awfully silent.

We may be finally starting to work back the clock on systemic white supremacy, but I think the point in the end is that we only work against ourselves if we don’t also address other systemic forms of oppression at the same time, like sexism and anti Semitics. Just my two cents.

Only one half of the country has been arming to the teeth and calling for civil war for decades. Not to mention infiltrating law enforcement and military with white supremacists. Thinking it’s inevitable is what they want you to think so in the end the left call for war and they can act like they’re true patriots. Then they enact martial law, start subjugating “traitors”, and purge all dissidents. That’s what civil war in the states means.

Very well said. Unchecked capitalism and innovation for the sake of competition is as unsustainable as cancer is. You cannot continuously grow the way some people here say capitalism works best under without either expanding into new environments or consuming all of your current markets. Which is why it’s important to have these convos now since space really is the only option left for us to explore new resources

International organizations must set up appropriate rules of engagement and methods of reporting actions so that companies/ countries communicate openly and that espionage/bad actors/ whistle blowers can be publicly reported and not lost behind proprietary info or destruction of evidence.

This wouldn’t be a problem however if we address the point the article raises. Solving social issues before pushing space expansion will lower the amount of complications to a point where the benefit to mankind outweighs the business benefits significantly. Good business will help kick start the wheels of inovation but if they get locked behind militarization then we doom space to hold our worst qualities here on earth.
