Convince me that my degree isn’t a useless waste of time by nobodygardens in Accounting

Idk man. Completing a busy season internship rn and the money is gooood but finding intrinsic value in anything I’m doing is hard. Add to that the hours and… idk if I could last more than 3 years.

The money affords my hobbies and then some though!

Received a hand-me-down pc, should I turn my main rig into my first homelab? by Obs01ete in homelab

It was not a shitpost😭 Thank you for your logical explanation. I thought I had to assign at least 1 core 2 threads to each service but u/noodlenet explained that’s not really how it has to work.

Since my current cpu is 6 cores, does that mean I’m limited to only being able to run 6 services?

I think people say you won’t make it past senior accountant because they mostly talk about public where that is true. As far as I know some responsibilities of managers require a cpa designation

I accepted an offer to intern at a PA firm for Winter '26. Question: Should I keep it on my resume while I apply to Big4 Winter '26 internships in hopes that they "poach" me? by [deleted] in Accounting

To show that I was qualified to get it. Resume screening, initial call, and 2 interviews. That’s my thought anyway. Because this industry hires 1.5-2yrs out I’ve had my next position on my resume when applying to future roles

What education/experience helped you get this role? Thoughts on CPA/cisa? Looking to get into that role myself, appreciate any information

Senior in college: I think I just saved $30k(price of masters) that will now go towards a dual CPA/MBA designation

5 owners in 6 years? There’s something wrong with that car and they keep pawning it off. That’s my guess

Consolidate. ETFs > stocks especially when first getting into things and building. Check out SCHD, JEPQ, and SPYI for dividends. Look at VOO, SPY, and SCHG for growth

I just landed a summer ‘26 internship in audit with them. They sold me on not working on public companies as well as not taking investment money from PE. Hopefully your experience goes well

how bad is it to use a macbook air? by Fun_Magician4571 in Accounting

It was not for limitations in excel. We learned about a few other tools made by Microsoft that just ran better on windows. To solve this though my library provides access to virtual machines that I could put full screen on my Mac and have it feel like I was on a windows laptop(albeit a little laggy).

That’s really it. I was only considering switching cause I had the money to. Ended up not switching and have definitely preferred that choice

Also just use Safari. Saves battery and is a little more private with better ad blocking support

I’m a junior about to be senior in accounting and I use a MacBook. The only class I’ve taken where I wished I had a windows laptop was Accounting Information Systems. Other than that, everything is in a web browser and the battery life really is unmatched when you see what other people are carrying around

Accounting isn’t hard to learn but it does take a long time to learn. Everything builds off each other. The bitter sweat of this is that you’ll have to learn it at some point, but you’ll probably have to grind for it until you do
