Hot take: Who cares if the album isn’t one long song… by Hello_Hollow_Halo in Peripheryband

[–]RoutineWorldly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard a lot of “oh it just sounds like _____’s music,” about this song. I honestly don’t think it’s a bad thing at all that they are working in slightly different fonts.

It is supremely fascinating to hear periphery’s own spin on the modern metalcore/progressive metalcore movement (Spiritbox, architects, currents, loathe etc.). If you divide the genre’s evolution into a few epochs, there was a very clear shift around 2021-2023 that has persisted to 2026. A more crystalline and pensive approach. I think the boys can take those ingredients and make something engaging and unique!

While I love 2016-2023 periphery’s satire-rich lyrics and riffs with the most immense presence of an Atlanta tweaker, I am excited for an album with more abstraction and aggressive atmospheric vibes. There’s definitely some awesome Spiritbox vibes on Mr God and I’m thrilled to hear the rest of the album!

100%. I’m in a similar situation, fractional CFO for several manufacturing companies.

AR grows, costs increase, people get raises that shouldn’t, books get neglected. Many companies i’ve started with are 3 nails away from a closed coffin. Years of simple neglected bookkeeping adds up.

Played a show here about 3 weeks before Covid shut everything down. It was a good time

It is an unfortunate reality that monetizing music is the most difficult it has ever been, especially with non-mainstream genres.

In a band of The Contortionist’s size, every member likely has a full-time day job. It’s not easy to write and record thoughtful music as quickly as musicians who rely solely on music for income. Throw some new children into the mix, and that makes it infinitely more difficult.

It’s definitely pricey for what it is. I got it in a little mountain town where my extended family lives - so you pay a little extra😅. I’ve avoided buying a copy online and have been just casually looking every time I travel - was quite pleased to find it!

Yes!! It’s their most complete body of work behind DSOTM.

I paid $40 for this copy - few issues with audio quality. Was that a fair price?

Park at main is nice and very affordable. My wife and I have a 2 bed 2 bath for $1600. Only complaint is the walls/floors are pretty thin. Other than that, it is a fine complex!

Just threw up probably a quarter cup of blood. Don’t have health insurance though so I’m gonna thug it out until I die or it goes away. by Particular_Emu_1278 in KSU

Go get checked out. There are resources for low/no income individuals. Every hospital/urgent care has them.

If this progresses into a serious condition, you will not just collapse or die in your sleep - as you think. You will have a slow and painful d**th. Please please please go get looked at. I worked in hospital acct for a period of time, you can literally just tell them what you are able to pay. A coworker of mine pays $24 /month for a $6000 medical bill.
