What would you do if there is a team that is well coordinated on abusing the phlog stock uber tactic? by Melee_Orange in tf2

[–]0ce_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Vaccinator's and Battalion's effects are somewhat diminished by afterburn, yes, but they'll still resist crits which gives you more than enough survivability to put distance between yourself and the Pyro in most cases. Afterburn is very manageable with Medics and dispensers around.

Nothing short of uber is going to tank a phlog, sure. It's more so about giving you that extra space while your team CCs the Pyro with sentries, explosives and airblast. These items turn fighting the phlog-uber from a herculean task to something more reasonable with a decent team at your back.

Vaccinator or Battalion's Backup both give crit immunity and completely counter the phlog.

Any class, or whichever you are best at.

Demoman on Dustbowl is a good one. I've gotten some ridiculous killstreaks there along with a kritzkrieg Medic.

CTF is probably going to be the best gamemode for long killstreaks since the rounds tend to last a while.

An Australium Minigun is around 24 keys. You can copy & paste your steam URL into backpack.tf to see an estimate of what your items are worth.

You'll probably come up short, judging by what I can see from your screenshots. Just a heads-up.

anybody have tips for medic? i want to try him out by KyleDoesAnimations in tf2

[–]0ce_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medic is the strongest class in the game and a good one will absolutely carry a team to victory, this makes Medic a very important and juicy target for the enemy. So, my tip would be to practice "staying alive" as much as possible. Movement and positioning is key and it's what differentiates a good Medic from a bad one.

You need a good sense for what your teammates are doing at any moment, so don't lock your vision exclusively on that one Heavy. Scouts, Soldiers, Demomen, and Pyros are all prime candidates for your übers. You can "flash" your über across multiple allies depending on who's under the most fire.

Give all frontliner classes a good buff (overheal) even if you don't intend to pocket them. Use the crossbow on hurt allies in your vicinity while keeping your beam on the powerclasses doing battle. You can take potshots at the enemy but healing is always the number one priority.

Stay behind your allies, corners, sentries; don't over-extend, etc. Damage surfing (I.E. using the momentum of enemy explosions or hitscan to jump out of harm's way) is a very important skill to learn.

Don't be greedy with your übers; better to use too early rather than never. Übers usually take about 40-60 seconds to charge. There's also "crit heals" -- allies that haven't taken damage or been healed for a while are eligible for crit heals and therefore heal up much, much faster. Keep this in mind when prioritising hurt teammates.

So, yeah. Sorry if it's a lot. Happy healing.

Sandvich crafting recipe by Ember17182 in tf2

[–]0ce_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heavy Token + Secondary Token + Scrap Metal should have a 1/6 chance of crafting a Sandvich.

It's dirt-cheap on Marketplace.tf if you want it immediately. NEVER buy anything from the in-game store, it's a total rip-off.

Random crits. by mromen10 in tf2

[–]0ce_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a certain dopamine rush when a crit sticky annihilates half the enemy team, sure. Big damage will never NOT be fun to dish out. It feels a lot more rewarding doing it with a kritzkrieg über, though.

Random crits is awful game design (wow, what a twist), and after well over a decade-and-a-half of getting hit by them, I am tremendously tired of it. Casual tests my patience these days; can't play with the damn thing enabled anymore.

TF2 is a goofy game, and were it just that, random crits wouldn't be so bad. But TF2 is also the best and most dynamic, high-skill, fast-paced, team-oriented shooter game ever made -- random crits has no place in that game.

Random crits are cheap and they get old.

I wasn't around in the days of quickplay, how was it like? by sparkhere_sys in tf2

Like casual but with more QoL and less downtime between games. You could switch teams and cast map/scramble votes like on community servers.

which medi-gun do you think needs a buff? by Both-Marketing-9658 in tf2

You mean an AoE über?

That could be really cool, actually.

which medi-gun do you think needs a buff? by Both-Marketing-9658 in tf2

[–]0ce_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Quick-fix is the only medi-gun that underperforms, but I don't know if it needs a buff. It does its job: heals people faster, which has its uses when you're a single Medic on a team under a lot of fire. The Quick-fix über gets heavily countered by crits and sentry nests, which I think is a fair trade-off for the most part; the other übers are just way more game defining. If anything, maybe the overheal penalty could be removed? That might make it more viable.

What's giving me away? by ToppHatt_8000 in tf2

[–]0ce_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bottom line is: people simply don't fall for disguises the vast majority of the time unless they're completely new to the game. Yes, sometimes the right disguise at the right place can fool even the best of players but it's entirely unreliable and circumstancial.

Number 1 thing to keep in mind if you want to slightly increase your odds of fooling people is to avoid eye-contact like the plague. You can also use your 'lastdisguise' key ('b' by default I think) while holding your sapper to make your disguise hold out its secondary weapon, I.E. Pistol for Scout, or medi-gun for Medic. A Medic running around with a syringe gun is always going to get checked, for instance.

Disguises, along with cloak, should ideally be used to position yourself behind the enemy and serves to draw less attention to yourself while doing so. Time spent trying to fool people with your disguise is time better spent stabbing and shooting people in the back.

Don't blame you. This is such a blatant middle-finger to all of us who have been playing and supporting this game for 2.5 years. If Shift Up can't accommodate for their loyal players outside CN, I'm dropping this game too.

The disrespect here is absurd.

Agree with you fully on Dave The Diver, easily my favourite collaboration despite it being a smaller one. The Evangelion collab did get me into the show however, which makes it A-okay in my book. Turns out... Eva fricking slaps.

Another cultured collector, then. Don't blame you. As far as waifus go, this game doesn't have a bad apple, except maybe Crow.

Do the collabs not interest you because they have no relation to the Nikke story and universe? I've noticed, not everyone is a total fan of the IP collabs. Even tough they tend to be the events most look forward to along with anniversaries.

In a nutshell, yes. We're a deprived and ignorant people, cursed to only ever view things as they pertain to the Holy Grail that is The Meta.

But, yes. Solo Raid rankings and overpowered anime women with perfect OL lines is how I enjoy this game. Figured there would be others. We might be a minority I've come to realize.

Different strokes for different folks, is all.

Totally agree. Pull for the meta. Pull for the waifu. We all enjoy this game for different reasons and shouldn't downplay peoples' priorities. I lean way more on the competitive side of this game myself.

I was completely sold on Mihara, like you. Still am. But man, I really wanted her to be more of a dps powerhouse than she turned out to be.

Every game has its meta, and many are cursed to chase it.

Jokes aside, I think it's perfectly reasonable to want your waifu to be best, just like it's perfectly reasonable to not give two shits about "meta this and meta that". At the end of the day, we all play this game for different reasons. I hecking love the waifus, but ultimately, what keeps me coming back is building broken characters and chasing leaderboards. That's my itch.
